I too have been itching terrible lately.  I am now in week 13 of treatment.  Although the "Sharp, intense itching has pretty much stopped after I quit Incivik @ week 12, its still "seems" just as bad.  Cause now just the interferon & ribavirin, it feels like a continuous "feather itch".  Just as bad.  But I must say besides my regular vitamins, I started taking a "B-stress vitamin" morning & again at dinnertime.  It has really helped me the most, especially for daytime.  I still take Benadryl allergy at night for it also helps me with rest at night due to the itching.  It can be bought at your local store.  I've tried the hydroxyzine, it didn't seem to help me that much, just felt lethargic.  The doctors gave me a prescription of loratadine (claritin) It didn't help much.  The good thing about "B vitamins".  Whatever your body doesn't use, goes out daily, it is water soluble.  You can't get too much, & its the vitamin that works with your nerves.

Yes, I have no trouble staying awake. I usually take 50 mg at about 6 am depending on when I get up (for BR run). Then I take 50 mg at 11am, again at 5pm, and again at 10:30pm or so. I tried doing only five 25 mg tabs a day in divided doses, then six 25 mg tabs in divided doses, then seven. But eight 25 mg tabs in divided doses (ie 50 mg every 6 hours) works the best. If I miss doses or am late, I start to itch, and then I get the rash and then I itch more. For me, it is much better to keep it totally under control.

When I first started in Hydroxyzine I was taking it only at bedtime. It did help some but I still had to slather on the Fluocinonide ointment all over the place. Then my derm doc indreased that bedtime dose and then she increased the dose to 50 mg every 6 hours. I felt 500% better with the increased dose. Not only did the rash and itching stay controlled, but I felt better all over, more energy, less fatigue, less crummy feeling, less light headed, etc. It is good to keep in mind that this rash is a systemic drug reaction so it is affecting more of the body than just the skin.

I hope you get some relief soon.

It took a two week diminishing dose of prednisone to eventually make the itch go away and the rash to subside for me. And this was four weeks post Incivek and two weeks after a steroid shot. I started with 50mg a day for three days, then 40 a day for three, etc. I remember sitting on the sofa after the first dose and I could actually feel the itch and fiberglass feeling begin to diminish. That night I slept without waking up scratching for the first time in almost ten weeks.
As the dosage of prednisone decreased, I began to itch a little and was scared to bits that The Rash would return. But over the past four weeks or so, after the prednisone, I have itched less. I still get a little rashy if I get too warm, or go out n afternoon sun at all, and still have skin issues...but it is improving! I use Hylatopic Plus prescription cream twice a day....and olive oil all over when I shower.

Hope you feel better!!

Yes, I have the rash and itch and use Hydroxyzine for it. I made the mistake of being in the sun and heat (70s) for about 30-45 minutes in April and the rash and itching went wild. I took Hydroxyzine and used clobetesol solution and this calmed the rash and itching.  By the following day it was back to "normal" ie fairly well controlled as long as I take Hydroxyzine 50 mg every 6 hours.
