right hip pain not joint or bone

bad hip pain that has been checked out and IS NOT hip joint or bone problem.  Feels like a very bad bruise or muscular.  Going on for more than 2 months and prior to pain had a sigmoscopy.  Hurts to stand, stretch and cannnot lay on that side in bed.  Pain medication does not help.

Just had a bone mineral density test and it came back with significant thinning in 2 vertebra and slight thinning in one hip.  That caused me to look up interactions between IFN/riba and bone density and darn, if I did not find it.  Ribivirin may cause the bones to stop laying down new bone.  As usual, there's nothing conclusive or any info about whether it repairs after TX is discontinued.

I already had a back problem, so have tons of prior X-rays and nuclear bone scans that don't show any bone thinning and who doesn't love to blame later problems on the IFN/riba?  Think about having a bone density scan, which can show more than a standard X-ray.

I'm dealing with a similar situation, but I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease (causing nerve pain in my leg, like sciatica) prior to my starting the tx.

I did the cortisone shot and it only gave relief for 3 weeks.

Since starting the tx, it has just gotten worse, and I don't know what I'm going to do.

I'm having to take pain pills (ibuprofen, Tylenol, and some vicoden), but I know that can't be good.  (I don't think I could manage going to work without it the ibuprofen at the very least.)

I think I might have to go for the back operation, but I don't know if I have to wait til I'm done with the tx or what.

So I feel for you.

In my case I don't think it is caused by the tx, just seems worse than ever now.
