shingles nerve pain

I am currently on  Sol/ris and have been for almost 4 months. I also have outbreaks of shingles nerve pain in my head. Its like electric shocks in the same area. It is the weekend so I took it upon myself to take some nyproxen which has eased the pain. I have had it on hand since by last bout prior to tx. I have only taken 2 pills and plan on calling my dr. tomorrow but I am wondering if I should not have taken it at all. The pain can be unbearable.

Hi, I am so sorry for what you are going through.
I don't know if your doctor would approve but there is a patch called a Lidoderm patch that was created by a doctor for his wife who was suffering from shingles.  It is not a narcotic, just a lidocaine patch.
It works really well for pain in a specific area, they can even be cut and placed on various spots.  I have one on my shoulder right now and it is helping with the pain.
I raked a bunch of leaves weeks ago and I am still having pain :)

Do know that Naproxen is an antiinflammatory similar to Advil or Aleve.  These drugs are known to have blood thinning property's and should only be taken with your Drs approval.
Doubt that taking 2 over the weekend will harm you, but would agree with dontworry, and call your Dr just to make sure these are safe given your liver status.
Best wishes
