skin disorders

The 1st of January I developed some bumps on my skin.  I was on vacation and had been in a hot tub.  Went to urgent care.  They said it was not from the hot tub and not shingles.  They had no clue what it was. I am not on treatment yet for hep c.  Will start in summer.  Looked for skin disorders on the internet.  Found Lichen Planus and some others that I will mention to doc tomorrow.  I wont try to describe them to you at this point but would like to know if anyone else has skin problems and/or has heard of any.

I was diagnosed by a skin biopsy with something of the initials of T.M.E.P., basically the path says an increase of mast cells in the skin and dilated vessels in the skin. That's a condensed version of the path report.  T.M.E.P. is a long, mouthful of a word, but I'm lazy and don't feel like going to look up the path report again to type it out!  Anyhow, I'd go to a dermatologist and have them check out your skin if it's a big problem.

I was at my son's home for New Years.  No real changes in soaps lotions etc. These bumps were on my left side and two on the right side. It is red spot with a bump in the middle that resembles maybe a small blister. They did not really itch. They were sensitive to touch. After a while they started to dissapate. They flaked a little.  It is now into February and the bumps are gone but they left a mark.  I don't want to say scarr.  I never scratched them.  But there is a dark mark where these bumps occurred.

i would definitely tell your doc about them. there are so many disorders of the skin. i too have read up on lichen planus, but i am sure your doc will have a better idea. i know i get blisterlike spots on my face and shins occasionally and went to the dermatologist and it was from the sun, actinic keratosis. they left brownish scars. they were sort of scaly and softer in the middle with some slight bleeding and slight itching. hope everything is ok. keep us posted!

Did you go to a dermatologist?  If a doctor doesn't nkow what it is none of us are qualified to guess.  We are only patients in here none of us are doctors just so you know.

I'd definitely find a good derm guy who can give you a real answer.  That way you can treat it and get rid of it.

I never heard of anybody getting anything from a hot tub before though.....................maybe that is just coincedence.

I had loads of skin disorders but they were from the interferon.

i am no doctor, but i know that there have been a few times on vacation (in a sunny, hot  place) where i developed bumps. for me it was (i think) using tanning lotion/oil and then sweating and perhaps the sun. they went away after a few days and i don't recall them itching. i wasn't on tx. also about 8 yrs ago, i developed bumps on my legs and arms that were very itchy and i went to the doctors and no one could figure it out. they gave me an antihistimine and it helped with the itching. that was before i was diagnosed with HCV. i know that alot of people have different types of skin disorders with or without tx. do the bumps itch? ooze? are they in patches, flat or raised? where are they located? did you change any soap, lotions, detergents? hotels have been known to have bedbugs, so there are many scenarios to consider and being on vacation when you you noticed them may make it harder to determine what caused them since you would be using their soaps and detergents and whatnot. hope they go away!  good luck
