sores

I'm experiencing sores on my head like blisters. Does anyone else have this? I just started tx this week. Only 47 left, had a sx like flu that put me down like a rag doll.

Ah, yes, the blisters.  I remember them well.  I never got them on my constantly sweaty scalp, but they did erupt elsewhere on my body. My favorite: when they appeared on my breasts!  Pretty is as pretty does.  Having little self control when it comes to stuff that itches, I managed to scratch a number of the blisters into infected, open, weeping sores.  Nice.  I finally asked the doctor for an anti-itch med, and it helped immensely.  Sending good wishes your way, Jetty

i just started getting a rash as well, not at all blisters though, (more like an alergy to something) on my rists, and around my waist. it itches a bit, but not too bad. i will show my doc at next apt. i've had it for two weeks now. no big problem for now. i do take some alternatives with my tx like milkthistle and a few others and vitamins. so i can't be sure what it's from. i recently just started valarian for sleep so it could be from that. has anyone ever heard anything bad about valerian? i know kava kava for sleep can cause liver damage.

Majneni.....I'm following you and you're leading the way! I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better and better each day and I remember so much how you helped me and guided me and a lot of other those early days of treatment.  I feel so very blessed to have found all of you on this forum. I can't hardly believe that I'm on my 44th week.  WHEW !!

HI GALEN
Haven't seen you on the forum for quite sometime and when I think of you I just know that you are doing really well. I miss you and all of your posts, comments and help.  Oh, my hair is finally starting to come back in some.  I never could get the deal about 'chia pet' everyone was talking about when I first joined this forum.  NOW I know (smile)

I'm so happy to see people on this forum getting finished with treatment. I remember when I was just starting all of you gave me so much support, advise, comfort and direction.  You all were just about 1/2 way through and I was just getting started. I felt so weak and defeated and I just kept reading everyone's comments and took all of the encouragement and just kept going.

Oh...........so long ago!

Somehow it all falls in place towards the end I guess, doesn't it.  I've even started to accept and understand how very strong and demanding all of this medicine is and that how this treatment time has been such an absolute, huge life hurdle.

Let your doctor know about your blisters and see what he says. Keep your chin up and keep going, knocking down those weeks one......by......one.

I noticed a few blister like deals on the backs of my hands when I first started the meds, seems like they popped up around week 4 or 5. They only stayed briefly, disappeared and didn't ever come back on my hands.  I've never experienced blisters on my
scalp but my scalp is always more tender than usual, it seems.

Dry skin and itching/broken out skin is what I am suffering with and experiencing my last few weeks of this treatment.  I'll just be glad when my skin gets back to normal.  I have never, ever had skin problems and I really thought that I would escape the 'dreaded itch' that some others experience while taking these meds.  I didn't.  My itch and rashiness (is that a real word rashiness?) has been visiting me now for more than 8 weeks.

I just dream about when this is all over and I can have my mind, body and soul back to myself; once again.

The blisters will probably be with you for the duration.  I had them until about one month post-tx.  The dermatologist said they were likely an allergic reaction to the riba and that about 10% of us get them.  Try not to scratch them as to not get an infection.  Benadryl cream, hydrocortozone (Rx strength), oatmeal soap, Aveno body wash and lotion - these are some of the things I tried and had some relief with.  Good luck

This is a message from the far side of the Far Side:
I've been done for 4 weeks now, and I finally feel like I, myself, am inhabiting my body.  The aches are pretty much gone, but fatigue still comes on radically.  The pallor is gone... people who knew about my tx admit now that when they told me I looked great during tx, I actually looked like s**t.  The fog is mostly gone, though my memory is still not great.  Energy good.  Sleep poor, still need occasional help there; and I miss the wild, vivid dreams.  For a couple of weeks, I WAS intensely itchy; I'd guess that was me getting rid of toxins... I love having a brain again.  Hey, world, I'm Back!
Hang in there, dragon fighters.
DTR, I can see you now in the dim light of the tunnel.  You've got a lot of company around you, mostly behind you now, and  you're all moving forward pretty steadily.  Keep on putting one foot in front of the other!
Best,
Maj Neni

blisters should be reported to your doctor.  They can be an indication of a more serious rash or side from the drugs.  they can also predispose you to infection.  call your doc and i hope you feel better soon.

I have also had problems with my scalp and just been experimenting at this point with some more gentle shampoos and if you can which is hard..try not to shampoo everyday.  I am now using some of the baby products and that seems to help somewhat.  As far as flu like sx...ohhhh yeah...I think it just comes with the territory and should let up in a few weeks.  Also, you won't feel like flu everyday as it hits different times.  Good Luck with your sx and maybe..you are getting it over in the beginning stages!
