Don't change the dosing. It's important to get all of the Incivek and all of the 20 grams of fat with each dose.

Yea, the incivek is 3x a day. It's brutal waking up to alarms that often, but worth it.
Thanks to all. He decided against the 2x a day. I will ask the doc more questions regarding this. We have so much to learn. Thanks again! B
Yeah, sorry about any possible miscommunication. The Incivek dosing schedule of three times a day has to to do with the relatively short half-life of Incivek. Taking each dose with 20 grams of fat has to do with increasing absorption & bioavailability. Even though someone's doctor may have said otherwise it would be helpful to provide the Incivek Product Monograph to show the dosing schedule has changed.
I hate to be like that but the longer you hang around and the more posts you read it will shock you at how many doctors do not know what they are doing when it comes to Triple Therapy with the Protease Inhibitors. I am in no way suggesting your husband's doctor falls into this category.

Just because something might be in a trial in July 2012 that does not mean the current guidelines would have changed. A trial in July 2012 suggests it is barely in three months in. A trial means experimenting to see what can and will work rather than do it right now across the board..
I guess all I am saying is please provide the link where this is acceptable .'
i was 3 times a day on incivek...i couldn't miss a dose...maybe things have changed in the last year .....i just wouldn't take a chance on missing a dose of incivek....my symptoms were very bad...some people have bad symptoms some don't...tx can be a rough ride...even though i read about tx for years i never thought i would be one with bad symptoms to the point of having to stop my ribas twice just to stay on tx...the first shot i was so sick with fever...but the shots got easier as tx moved on...my hgb tanked from 15.5 to 8 in the first 2 weeks...the anemia was something new for me and i didn't know what hit me...get blood work every week(cbcs) maybe twice a week for the fist month...keep an eye on it...stay on the forum and ask questions...people can say things they don't really mean on tx...watch out for that in a relationship...keep in mind that bad symptoms can be a good sign that those drugs are working....i was in bed for most of my tx with anemia in the 8s and was svr using incivek...make sure to drink lots of water...make sure to eat lots of fat...take the pills on time...get a pill organizer...the trick is to cure..not to feel good....good luck...billy
My previous post was not clear: I am taking two pills per dose, eight hours apart, three times a day, for a total of six pills per day.
Prior to starting july 2012 the doc told me that a new regime was being trial with 2x a day dose. Not sure that is what you talking about. I can't believe any doctor would play with the dosing of incevik from 3x to 2x without the manufacturer having this as the listed dosage. That would be malpractice in my opinion.
Dosing and Administration
In all patients* treated with INCIVEK combination treatment:
Start triple therapy on Day 1 and complete the INCIVEK dosing portion of the regimen in
12 weeks. An additional 12 or 36 weeks of pegIFN-RBV alone is required.
•INCIVEK 750 mg (two 375-mg tablets) is taken orally 3 times a day (7–9 hours apart) with food (not low fat)
•INCIVEK is dosed for 12 weeks in combination with pegIFN-RBV and an additional 12 or 36 weeks of pegIFN-RBV alone is required
•INCIVEK must not be used as monotherapy
•To prevent treatment failure, INCIVEK dose must not be reduced or interrupted
For dose modification of peginterferon alfa and ribavirin, refer to their respective Prescribing Information
•If pegIFN or RBV is discontinued for any reason, INCIVEK must also be discontinued
•If patients miss a dose, they should follow these instructions:
If a dose of INCIVEK is missed within 4 hours of the time it is usually taken, patients should be instructed to take the prescribed dose of INCIVEK with food as soon as possible
If more than 4 hours have passed since INCIVEK is usually taken, the missed dose should NOT be taken and the patient should resume

The prescribing protocol is to take Incivek 3 times a day specifically 8 hours apart with 20 grams of fat. There was a trial at one time(I do not re call if it is still continuing) that was experimenting with taking Incivek only twice a day (however still the same amount in mg,in other words the dosage was increased to reflect the dosage of 3 times a day)
I do not know who told you that it was ok to do this,,however I have never heard of this being proper protocol or that there has been a change.
Good luck to hubby on his treatment and welcome to you both....
Will
Welcome to the forum and it is a great site with cool people who've fought the battle.
I just started this week and my dosing is two pills eight hours apart. I have read that it's really important to keep to this schedule so there is a constant dose of Incivek in my body. He's planning to take three pills twice a day? This was his idea? If it's not his doctor's advice, I wouldn't risk it.
