I am on a Clinical Trial at the Univ of Penn. There are 3 groups of naive, genotype 1a or b only.
Group 1=interferon and ribavirin
Group 2= "                    "    and either the protease inhibitor telaprivir or placebo 24 weeks
Group 3= "                   "     and either the protease inhibitor telaprivir or placebo for 12 weeks

I am having difficulty with low platelets and a low white count. Is there anything I can do? I am afraid I will be taken out of the study if the bloodwork goes to low and they told me and it is in the consent form.

I am in France. I got Hep C genotype 4 and already fibrosis level 4  I've tried Interferon with Riba but quicly had to stick to half the weekly dose of Interferon . My platelets went down to 30.000 almost right away. for now Interferon is a no no Is ther any hope for me? Does Telaprivir has its side effects to add to the Interferon experience???

Not in yhis trial i am starting Nov 7 next friday...and get this...they even pay for them fully...only the for the procit tho...not the neupogen..i can handle that...another plus is there is no rash from the BOC and roll over option

I may have misunderstood but I thought that the rescue drugs were denied by the fda as a criteria of the study

I dont think its right that vertex dont allow rescue drugs with this trial when the Boceparir trial does.

you must comply with the study...worst case...before they pull you from the study you may see a riba reduction and/or peg reduction...


I am also in a vertex trial. I took a riba reduction at 5 weeks. I just started week 21.
