Starting tx

No question, just a post that after 10 years of living with this dx, countless doctors and doctor visits, being told by some I will never have to to tx and then being told by others I should have done it yesterday,I am finally hitting the starting line.  Doing lead in with vic. Genotype 1a, 2/2, cc, VL 250,000, 57 year old female.  Getting home from work today in the mail was the lab slip for my 4 week blood work. Wow. It's finally happening. So tomorrow I am up at five to  drive to the city and hit my 9.30 am appt with pharmacist.  I will keep you all posted.

I will also be starting with lead in SOC and then VIC in 4 weeks. I am waiting on the medication, but will post when I start. I am amazed at how many new people start treatment every week that are on this forum. Such a great place to share knowledge and encourage each other....

Take care

Sometimes the waiting is the worst part.  Hope you have minimal sx and all goes smoothly for you.  Once you get rolling, the weeks will begin to click by.  Sounds very cliche, but just take it one day at a time.  Best wishes Mo.

Good Luck to you Brianmo as you start! My numbers were very similar to yours. 1a, vl 150,000, 58 years at start of tx. I am 59 now and SVR  after 48 wks of SOC.

I hope you will be able to treat for just the six months. I hope everyone here responding to you and starting with you does the same. It is a wonderful thing to be able to wave goodbye to the viral load! Godspeed to all.

Brianmo and His3707 -- It is a weird feeling to finally get started, hunh?  Kinda like starting a new job, only not that type of 'excitement.'  Your new 'job' will be to find a system to make sure you remember to take all your meds on time, each day.  I too, am on the lead-in with the SOCs, and will add Victrelis at the end of the month.  Best to you!  I'll keep an eye out to see how you are doing.

P.S.....as for those docs telling you you would not have to treat, I wonder if it was because you were initially doing well, or that the odds weren't in your favor.  Reminds me of wisdom teeth.  My dentist (former) told me if they didn't come up by the time I was 18, not to worry about them.  So at the age of 20 something, I HAD to have all of them pulled at once.  I have seen from this forum that different people's docs sometimes advise incorrectly.
