water

I was wondering about the water we have to drink during treatment, I drink tons of crystal light and it is sugar free, I can't stand the taste of plain water (no flavor or fizz), so I put a package of crystal light in. What do ya'll think would that be ok?

I was not a water drinker prior to tx. However, it improves my sx. Coffee is ok on tx but it does not count toward our fluid quota for the day. Every am i slice up a strawberry and put a small slice of lemon in my 22oz refillable container. Refill as needed with h2o. try to drink 4-5 every day. No sugar and plenty of flavor. T.

I love my coffee in the mornings. must have my two cups.  No one told me I couldn't drink it on tx.  Imagine my surprise when my own body started rejecting my favorite drink.  Maybe a couple of months into tx, I would drink the coffee and then puke it back.  It seemed that somehow my digestion had gotten too sensitive to tolerate it, I wondered if somehow the Riba and the caffeine were what reacted, because I'd get super hyper and then nauseous and sick..  I got headaches regardless of whether I'd drunk any coffee so it became easy to give up the coffee when I knew I'd lose it anyway.  Obviously this doesn't happen to everyone, but I have read of some other folks here who became unable to enjoy their coffee during tx.  Now, two years later, I once again have my beloved coffee habit back.  : )

do what you have to do - increase the CL decrease the CL JUST DRINK DRINK DRINK.

BTW COFFEE IS GOOD FOR OUR LIVERS BUT IT IS A 'DE-HYDRATOR' LOL SO MAKE SURE YOU DRINK PLENTY of water but coffee is ok.

sorry cap locks one finger typing.

you're right, I just looked on the back of the label on CL there is aspertame! Well that figures... my brother in law had lymphoma and that is all he drank, thats why I thought it would be ok for me. And no not the kind of bunnytracks that drop from their cages.. Made me laugh thanks :))

Although CL doesn't have any sugar, it does use the artificial sweetners, aspartame (NutraSweet), acesulfame potassium (Splenda) and artificial colors.  Some may be ok, but you might be cautious about drinking too much, since it might be rough on the stomach.  I'd suggest you discuss this with your doc.

Now if I have to quit drinking coffee, I'd be in big trouble.  One or two cups in the morning and I'm good.  Without, I'm a slug with a headache.  The bunnytracks sound good, unless your talking about the ones that drop from their cages.  ;)

There isn't any sugar in CL and I drink the lemonade so its not sweet, I just hope that I would want to drink something. I don't normally eat ice cream either, but you know what I think I can handle it, maybe bunnytracks or something like that with nuts in it!!!! Ohhh sounds so good ha haha

You could also adjust the amount of CL depending on your tolerance to sweets.  You will be drinking a lot more fluids than usual.  I've found that while on tx, I don't like some of the sweeter drinks, soda, etc.  Ice cream, however, still tastes wonderful.  ;)

Thanks everyone I am glad Crystal Light is approved. I drink tons of the stuff especially since I was a pepsi holic. I am down to one pepsi a day, it is my coffee in the morning, I have never aquired? a taste for real coffee.  I was trying to give up smoking and pepsi and freaking out, my GI told me to give up the smokes and keep the pepsi's for a while, well gave up the smokes and down to one pepsi a day anyway. I want to be as healthy as I can be going into tx. The stuff we have to do...oh well. I want to live

Take an empty water bottle and fill it with the crystal light and enjoy it.  Personally I was not a water person AT ALL but I made myself chug chug chug it down and now......I dont drink anything sweet at all - I prefer water.

I guess tx was good for something after all ;)

PS Apparently this is what we are all supposed to do every day tx or not.  Imagine that?

Very good to be concerned about hydration, I think the crystal lite is fine.  When I was dehydrated they couldn't even draw blood.  water good on many levels.
Lets keep our water clean and out of the hands of corporations.
Best :)

I had do drink plenty of liquids as well on tx so does everyone. We must stay hydrated. I am not a water person either. I was told as long as you get a good 10 full glass or if possible more of liquids you ok....I had milkshakes, soup, etc.

Just keep drinking! very important issue.
