If you have a normal BMI, the weight loss you're reporting corresponds to people fasting on water only, i.e. getting no food whatsoever. As others said, this is a serious matter and you should discuss it with your Dr asap.

Hi I am sorry you are feeling so bad.  I have heard of others losing weight, maybe not as quickly as you have though a couple lost  30 to 40 lbs during their tx.
If you are having problems eating or keeping anything down there is medication the doctor can prescribe to help you.
When I was on Incivek I had the same problem and was given medication for nausea
I hope your doctor will help you.  If not you could try going to your GP.
When I treated the first time the hepatologist I saw said that he would not treat my sx, I had to go to my GP.  It was ridiculous, that was why I got a new doctor for my second tx.

Good luck
Dee

Hello there.....I was reading your post and the rate you are losing weight is not healthy...LIVE is absolutely correct in being concerned....and your dr. should be!  I was on the same Tx and I lost 10lbs in 9 days. I couldn't even stomach water much less eat my 20 fat grams..forget it....taste was off I couldn't keep anything down..not to scare you, but this went on for 5 wks where I had passed out five times and because I didn't want to be a quitter I never talked to my dr".....well the last time I passed out that was it to the hospital I went severe anemia, low potassium(from vomiting up everything) blood transfusions, tests galore.Trust me you do not want a bag of pure potassium thru IV it's not pleasant...for me I stopped the Tx because I had no choice. I lost 30lbs in 5wks.........Not that u will, but my friend you need to talk to someone immediately as LIVE suggested. You need a med adjustment  or you need to find another doc!
Please take care and keep us updated. You have friends and supporters here
Best to you

I'm really sorry that you are having such a hard time with Tx.  I think you have every right to be concerned.  18 pounds in 2 weeks can be dangerous as vomiting can lead to dehydration, and all the problems that go along with it.

I'm sorry to say that since the Drs not worried, he should be. This scenario is not the norm and you need answers and help.  I know once you establish yourself with a Dr and Txs underway it's difficult to make a switch.  The fact
is if he's not concerned you need to find someone that is.  You are taking very strong meds which effect everyone differently.  I know nausea is a side effect but it should taper off as Tx continues.

Your body is not going to absorb these meds as vitamins and minerals are needed for adequate nutrition.  You don't want to end up malnourished as daily functions are needed nutritionally to avoid muscle wasting or energy depletion.

Bring this to his attention ASAP, and if it continues seek guidance in more capable hands.
I'm worried for you.  Please keep us posted.
....Kim
