Eat fish oil. It is as healthy as it gets, and you can calculate the fat from the label on the back.
Mayonnaise will work too. They say Canola or Olive Oil based is best, Calculate from label.
And. . . olive oil!

A teaspoon of olive oil and a teaspoon of fish oil with each of your 3 main meals will come to 6 x 4.5 = 27grams of fat.
tsp of either one is 4.5 grams of fat
Very healthy for anyone, the fish and the olive.

Hey moderator person.... why don't you put in a search engine where someone can put in the word   water or sodium or food and it pulls up the last 90 days of posts on subject.?????

Most of these have probably been listed in the comprehensive lists above, but here are some ideas that people on this forum who, like my hubby, have been on Incivek, suggested for the 20 grams of fat intake with the Incivek:

love peanut butter too....love to take a couple of really large tablespoons, a peeled diced apple or pear...some dried fruit like raisins or cranberries and about a guilty teaspoon or more of honey and mix all together....have always made this since I was a kid..

we lived on peanut butter and honey sandwiches...sometimes with sliced bananas.   and was I the only one who ate butter and brown sugar sandwiches...a no-no know but we were raised on this...LOL  the other morning I woke up and went straight to kitchen and took a can of white tuna, pickle relish and miracle whip and hot sauce...threw appropriate amounts in the bowl and ate it all, then went back to sleep.  How weird. Threw jack a treat.  He just looks at me like I am crazy....if dogs could speak or write books,,,what a story they'd have on their owners,

Hubby and I had to start buying those little individual packs of peanut butter so we could kind of control ourselves. Lol!  And while I wasn't on incivek those little cups became my meal to get the ribavirin down at times.

No a good diet will not cure HCV  but a good diet will give you energy to maintain and go forward.  It helps your general health and can help with depression. You feel better, you have more energy, you do more.

Try to reduce your salt/sodium intake.  The recommended daily intake of 2,300 mg. (1 tsp.) per day.  People with health issue should reduce their salt/sodium intake to 1,150 mg a day (1/2 tsp.).  The average American consumes 6# pounds of salt a year.  Approximately 80% of daily sodium intake is in processed foods.  Start reading labels. You'll be surprised.

Reduce sugar intake.  Average American yearly intake is 70 - 80 pounds. Again a lot of that sugar is in processed foods.  If it says no fat you can be sure it is carbohydrate loaded.

Every one need a rounded balance of fruits, vegetables, fat, protein and dairy in their diets as long as you can tolerate them.

Drink water....very important.

Start reading labels...know what you are eating...cook and fix as much food as you can...get rid of the deep fryer....lean/green....don't think they were too wrong when they said that.

Good luck.

I make a peanut sauce with 3 tbs peanut butter, coconut milk and the rest of my secret recipe. Have with just rice or on a salad like a gado gado, or on roasted steamed or stir fried vegies. Easy peasy to get down.

Besides Watermelon and Oranges, Greek yogurt is my favorite food.  I agree....don't worry about gaining weight....find the foods with fat that you can tolerate and worry about losing weight later.  Eating healthy is the most important thing through tx.

My mainstay was Greek Gods yogurt (not just Greek yogurt, but rather Greek Gods yogurt). It is creamy and tastes really good, almost like pudding. It is high in fat. It was a life saver for me because everything else tasted like cardboard and i had trouble getting food down. The Greek Gods yogurt was perfect. I usually ate something else with it such as toast or English muffin to make more fiber and food bulk for absorption purposes. Also I ate avocado, bratwurst, liver pate, Cheddar cheese, Havarti cheese, Brie cheese. Those cheeses are high in fat but not all cheeses are. Be sure to read the labels for the amounts. Peanut butter is high in fat also.

I also used to add heavy whipping cream to things if I thought I might be a little short of fat.

Don't worry about gaining weight. I gained 24 pounds (at least) on the Incivek but I lost a net 70 pounds on treatment so I still came out way ahead in the weight loss department.

Some of the fatty foods made me nauseous so I had to keep trying different stuff... Avocados were okay for a minute ...then not.  Flax seed worked for a minute....then not.
I mostly ended up with almonds and/or walnuts and/or cheddar cheese with a yogurt chaser (any kind).  The yogurt coated my stomach and helped me not be so nauseous.  Sometimes I had pizza or ice cream or a ham sandwich or chips, but I tried to eat healthy most of the time. I didn't gain much weight - maybe 5 pounds - and that came off very quickly after the Incivek.  I learned not to be so worried about my weight since treatment was number 1.
Good luck!

Just eat what you can eat to get enough fat and don't worry about gaining weight.  NormallyI gain weight just looking at food, but on this triple tx I only gained 5-6 pounds over the entire first 12 weeks and then I lost about 30 pounds without trying at all over the next phase of tx. In the end I was 25 pounds lighter. Now if only I could have kept it all off. Half has come back over the 8 months since I finished tx.

Hi there,  check with your doctor, but i found that taking 2 tablespoons of macadamia nut oil (or any evoo or nut oil) worked. That was  20 grams of fat. It worked much better than trying to figure out what to eat!

Fat contains 9 calories per gram.
So, if the serving size says 20 grams of fat, then multiply 20 grams by 9 calories per gram then it equals 180 calories per serving.
How many calories do you need in a day?  It depends if you want to maintain or lose weight.

Also, what type of calories do you want to consume? Calories from protein, fat, sugar...the choice is yours.  It could be fat-free but still have calories (ie. high sugar content). There are good fats and bad fats (ie. hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated trans fatty acids are bad for you.) The label on the food product will tell you.
