wk 4 lab results

My husband just got lab results taken his 4th week (of 48) on Pegasus & Ribavirin. They have been following him weekly as his wbc dropped to 3.0 (reference range 4.0 - 10.5). His pre-tx HCV RT-PCR, Quant read HCV RNA 24,176,000 IU/mL    HCV log 10  7.383 log10 IU/mL. His week 4 results said, HCV RNA  8,710 IU/mL  and  log 10  3.940 log10 IU/mL. To me it looks like his numbers started so high, but that he's responding well so far. Not sure how excited to get about the numbers because it seems 8,710 is still a big number and not sure how much they need to drop by wk 12 to keep him on tx. Also not sure if these counts fluctuate throughout tx or if these results give us any clues about continued response...   Thanks

He's doing great just tell him to keep on keeping on and he will clear in no time at all.  Don't let him miss any doses at all and dont let him dose reduce for any reason and you've got a great shot at success.

Best of luck

This is a very good response. He has had a 3.4 log drop in 4 weeks and 2 log would be considered decent. It's hard to know how it will go from here, but obviously he's responding to the medication.
Good luck - Dave
