In answer to your question in the closed thread below, this is considered a "chat" group. Two other that come to mind are:

http://janis7hepc.com/
http://www.hepatitisneighborhood.com/

There are also some "chat" groups that are more dating oriented, I don't know if that is what you're referring to. One I've seen is:

http://www.hcvanonymous.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl

I'm sure other here would be able to direct you to a more dating oriented group where hep c people can meet other hep c people, if that is what you want.

I tend to agree with Andy that only the whole Pamela Anderson is doing the HCV community a service by being out there with a positive message. I saw her on Larry King a while back and nothing she said about Hep C turned me off. A lot of celebrities hide diseases like Hep C, she should be commended by going out and talking about it. She's not a doctor and shouldn't be held to that standard when she talks about the disease.

i have a question concerning milk thistle. i've heard it from several people that it's good for the liver. now, i'm not sure if it's ok with hep C. what have any of you heard. better yet, has anyone heard it recommeded by a Dr.? thanks.

Trust me, I don't have her picture hanging on my walls either. My ideal specs are quite different.

But lots of celebs in her position would have simply denied the rumors. Anderson, on the other hand, continues to talk about Hep C in public, long after her "outing". Just think on the whole she's doing more good than harm. How many other celebs do you see stepping up with the disease and we know it must be very common in the entertainment community. In fact, every few months ago, you read about this celeb or that dying from liver cancer. Rarely is hep c mentioned and rarely did that celeb make any public mention of their liver condition before.

We're not talking about lust here, Chev, we're talking about MEN.

As Lenny Bruce was so fond of saying, "Men will f*ck mud" :)

I think she went public with this info when she was divorcing Tommy and was trying to make him look bad, is what I remember but I could be completely wrong of course.

I just read her book Star which I didn't realize was sort of an autobiography and it was really really bad (I didn't realize it was a biography until the nymphette star got a job on the tv show "HammerTime" LOL).

I hope that she IS saying the right things now but when I saw her no she didn't whatsoever as I've said before.

But I guess ANYBODY trying to get the word out about this disease is a good thing. I don't like her at all no and think she is what the general public perceives as the perfect example of having this disease (extremely promiscuous woman with a history of drug use and many many multiple partners) but if we can't get a Michael J. Fox...she's better than nothing.

Hello we keep missing each other because I was just wondering where you were!

I am on here and very grouchy this weekend after tx for some reason that I don't know. RibaRage is at its fullest and I've been isolating as much as I can so I don't take it out on the world!

I've learned when I am this b*tchy...better off trying to stay on my own.  That gun gets heavy in my pocketbook!  ;-)

Love you my friend glad to see how GREAT YOU ARE DOING!

May everyone have a great weekend after treatment and stock up on energy for the coming work week.  Yuck yuck yuck I do NOT WANT TO DO IT!

Having to work on tx is doable but man oh man I HATE IT. Well I hate working most of the time anyway...where is my lotto ticket!

Pamela Anderson was "outed" by a UCLA staff member. I work in this town and I happen to know there are many, many celebrities and famous musicians who are hiding this disease from the public. There have been really strict enforcements made at some of these hospitals, Cedars Sanai, UCLA, etc...where the staff have to sign non-disclosure agreements, etc.

I'm of two minds on this. Yeah, it would be really, really great for us as a community, in terms of press, government and private funding, etc. if these "household names" were outed and people could really see what a insidious, pervasive disease this really is...how much financial need there is....on the other hand, their jobs are like our jobs, there is discrimination against the disabled and they don't know if they would be able to work in this industry if all these respective "cats" were left out of their respective "bags." I joined a few people and we've been trying to get a "household name" to be a celebrity spokesmen, ala' Elizabeth Taylor with AIDs, putting it on the map and into the public consciousness, etc. and it's almost impossible. A celebrity who would be inclined to help us out is afraid that people would automatically assume that he/she had it, and the ones that do have it are afraid for said reasons. This is their livelihood too. More shall be revealed...

As far as Pammy she could do a lot more, for sure, but she did get all those negative emails and hate calls like Andy pointed out ("negative emails from heppers???How could that be???? ha ha ha...we do tend to have a lot of angry members in our group, don't know if you've noticed...) she's gonna do whatever she's gonna do....I'm sure if she were to be farther along in the disease she would probably feel she had to, to save her own life...funny how people don't get perspective unless they are forced to...

Antman: if you are still here, if you ever were here, ha ha, milk thistle is controversial, I know many, many people who have benefitted from it and actually taken their inflammation down, but of course that is anecdotal. There are many hepatologists who prescibe it so it can't be all smoke...I personally don't take it - it's too strong for my system now, but I did take it for years and I'm still at low damage, but then I take a few things...why not take if if you want to (and remember, sometimes I think some people get all these negative outcomes because they start out with too much) and see how it goes and test your blood, etc. see if it works for you...that's just my take, there will be others, like the sun coming out in the morning...ha ha! good luck to you!

You have met her??  And now the calling of "pammy",,,is this your sister lol   I do have to agree that she comes across alot sharper in interviews then of course one of her shows which is supposed to be the ditsy blonde always needing help. And yes,,,she has come out in the open with her disease but really she could do alot more but of course who am I to say,,,,She may feel being in the public eye is enough of a challenge at times just being a celebrity.
If we pass your test,,,,can we go to the head of the class or this a special one for space? lol

Hopefully, you'll get reassurance here -- but please visit ALL the chat groups listed -- and even find more. Every group has different people, with a different perspective. The more people you talk to, the better. Like I said yesterday, you'll be just fine with the dating thing. We men as a whole are a very horney bunch and most of us wouldn't let a little hep c virus get in the way of our fun. And I'm serious about this.

Is it possible to say if you are cirrhotic(sp) and and you are at end of tx,,,ready to quit.  Can you tell anything by monthly labs after getting off tx,,,to how your immune system is doing on its own?  Would it platelets be down?  Or that wouldn't be what you are looking for?

here is one interesting article on the follow up of hcv treated patients on the  evolution of HCV markers in chronic hepatitis C.  Note that "Four SR (3.6%) and 44 NR (100%) were also HCV-RNA (+) in liver tissue." That is 4 out 132 SR. It does not seem to follow the speculation of some drs about hiding virus, at least not in the majority of SR.

Been noticing that you have made some strides lately...would be great if you could play nice, there are only so many identities you could take to come back on you know...for the next one, if there is to be a next one, I'd suggest Ben Franklin, I've always loved him!

space; just be yourself, we don't want too much of a homogenous group, it is no fun that way.   as long as you don't pick on me, of course, then it is off with your head!

seriously, the first statement is my real opinion. just mine.

I agree with some of your points about putting people on "ignore", but really...that said it's apparent to many of us that someone or sometwo or somethree are playing games with multiple screen personalities at the expense of this forum.
