That's great! And relax some on that reducing, don't know if you recall my tx at all, but I had to reduce Peg and Riba..TWICE! (Geno 2b also) I was SO nervous at my post 4 and 12 week testing because of that. You were UND week 4....your odd's are still very high even with the reduction. If you want any details, studies, etc. PM me. I have lots!
Keep it up! LL
Thanks for the info gals and the inspiration everyone! Great news about the Neprogen Trish! I hope it makes a world of difference! Keep us all informed. Sorry you had to practically beat him up to finally get it!! Jeeezzeee I just don't get some of these docs.
The differences, the conflicting opinions. My new PCP ( I have seen only 3 times) was cluless about Hep C!! She has been a doctor for 20 years!?? What is that all about! She actually asked me if I had and I quote" do you have any OTHER sexually transmitted diseases." unquote! I said a resounding "NO and first of all Hep c is not considered a high risk sexually transmitted disease and I caught it from an accupuncturist, who reused his needles!" She really thought sex was the number one way to transmit it.
Again (and this is probably a whole new thread....pick it up and start a new, anyone who feels the urge)
I Just think it really is such a dangerous situation that Hep C is not/hardley talked and warned about in the main stream media, except when someone famouse like Natalie Cole or a Judd etc etc... gets it. (I guess the talk about Stevie T. made me think about this again) I know he and the band were doing a great job in my area, where he and I are from, since becoming clean and sober to inform kids about drugs etc...)
I am just feeling so strongly more has to be done. But where does one start. Thankfully I and many of us were in long term relationships when we found out the news... and I did not pass it along, not knowing I had it... but the the thought of even innocently letting a good friend use your tooothbrush, if they forgot theirs, could be a disaster. :( I just don't understand why it is not more warned about??? Sure here on the net...but how many people in main stream google Hep c or read the medical journals every day!
Any one hear why Natalie Cole went in hospital due to her Hep complications? I did hear that on TV but that was the end of it? Of course she wants and deserves her privacy. I just wish more high profile people (again like Oprah) would come out and blow the warning signals. It is out there and sooooooo many innocent people have it unknowingly and it is destroying their livers unknowingly and they could be passing it on unknowingly. Why is it not made a routine test when one has a physical?? Would that be so difficult? I am not asking any one directly, just thinking and writing out loud! :)
I had it for perhaps 7 or 8 years before my liver enzymes showed any slight difference and I had physicals every single year! When I found out, the hardest thing I had to do was to make the phone calls to anyone I thought I could have past it too...thankfully it was a short list my ex and my now. They are both fine.
I don't know...I am just sharing some thoughts that have been eating at me. It is so tough...I can't even tell co-workers let alone the world! :( As Trish and many said thankfully we do have this forum and eachother to come to...and to pass our experiences and info on to those who will come after us. I would be lost without it. I just think the numbers who will come after us, could diminish greatly with more main stream education and awareness.
Well my dear cohorts on this roller coaster ride, Hold on tight, Keep the faith whatever it is for you, and stay positive and get negative soon!!
Love and all the best,
Dragon Tamer
congrats, and not to worry your TTSH numbers are all fine. You are low end of normal, no big deal.... you can chase that number around for months changing does trying to get it to a 2 or something, it rarely works. Try taking half a tab once or twice a week and you should get to 2 or 3 in a month, easier than the nest dose down which may leave you too low. Also eat on empty stomach for best absorption. And don't worry..as long as you are still in normal range you should be fine.
any change in dose will take 4 to 6 wks to reflect acuarrately in the bloodwork.

Late to the party but still wanted to say congrats on your continuing UND. Hang in there on the thyroid. I went for followup testing this week and results come Tuesday. I'm not on synthroid or anything either even though TSH was down to .01 last test...he says it's because my T3 and T4 are starting to settle out. Some of the thyroid symptoms are similar to treatment symptoms only moreso ... I thought I was having exacerbated treatment symptoms and then when the hyperthyroid diagnosis came in, it all made more sense. My liver enzymes have gone up same as yours have done. Interesting to compare notes amongst everyone.
Keep up the great attitude and I raise my glass of soda water and lime to you!! Cheers!! :)
Trish

Positive sailing from here girl friend....so they tell me! Raise the root beer.....heck...go for it! Grape Juice! All the benefits of wine without killing our livers! :)

Oh they are cute! terriers can be a handful though! I saw a cute beagle! same thing there! Busy little guys!

AGAIN CONGRATS
Deb
Congratulatons on your UND!!!!!! I feel like I am late to the party....but I stopped by the store to get some more Dr Pepper. :-)
It is encouraging to hear your good news to those of us that have faced peg reductions...so thanks for sharing.
Hoping the thyroid gets straightened out soon for you. And you continue to do well.
All the best,
Isobella
Thanks again gang!! Love the screaming UND UND Jim!!! LOL Doc said could very well be the drugs. Been tested for Reflux all ok there...but good thought Jim. I hardley eat any more anyway! LOL
So many questions so little time! No dog yet Deb....but we found a REPUTABLE breeder here in the same state! Irish Wheaten Terriers... a Benji but fluffier (doesn't shed) and bigger. She will have the litter in April. If all goes well I will have my fluffy baby by the summer.
Hopefully will have my job too!! Phew what a money mess ey? Slashed the education budget today in my state big time! If we run out of paper and supplies before school ends..we are out of luck! Kids will be writing tests on their hands! Jobs are safe for now. Have to be able to feed the pup!
I hope you all are not getting really creamed with this insane mess. They say be patient, sit tight it will turn around....as if we have a choice to do anything else!
To Ny York girl...I do have an appointment with the Endo.... in November, but, if my next labs are still down they are going to push that up. They have not mentioned the meds yet as an option....I think they are hoping things will turn around on the next labs. I am pretty asymptymatic so far...except for the numbers.
I have a friend who is on Synthroid and a mix of T3 and T4 (she does not have Hep) first they only gave her the T4 with the synthroid, it helped some but when they mixed it with T3 it balanced her out right away...
She could not get pregnant for years...then FINALLY they checked her Thyroid.... Duuuuurrrr and Voila.....put her on the combo and she was pregnant within a year... Sad note to the story, her husband strayed and she is now getting divorced!!!! Alaynnis Morrisette was right....Isn't life ironic!! ;)
Well you know I am always sending out good thoughts and energy to all corners of the globe where ever all you wonderful people are. It would be so cool if one day when we are all well.....and we will be!!!.... we could have a massive party (yes with Doctor Pepper Meki) in the middle of the Earth somewhere! Hmmmm where is the middle of the earth.... ah heck Bermuda, Jamaica ....Bahamas.... they all work for me!! I hear some of you Parrot Heads singing!!! :)
Sending sweet dreams and a peaceful sleep to all you caring, thoughtful people tonight!
Dragon Tamer

Hey, did you ever get a dog? I was thinking about that earlier.
Way to go! Congrats on the UND! AWESOME news!
Deb
Although I do notice my hair now beginning to thin more....I wonder if that is thyroid or Tx?
-------
My hair started falling out a LOT faster when I went hyper thyroid at about week 24 or so. Has the doc spoken to you about going on Syntrhoid? Hyper is much more dangerous than hypo - most of the time however it will flip flop around and switch and you end up being hypo in the end (that is what happened to me).
I've been on synthroid since I was diagnosed at about the same level as you so that is why I am wondering why you haven't been sent for a nuclear imaging scan or to see the endocronologist?
BIG CONGRATS ON THE UND - WOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :)
Congrats! Am so happy for you!!!!
Marcia
First, congratulations on being UND at 12?
As to the "numbers", yes, they are important, and it appears from what you write that you were also UND a week 4, which is very important especially for a genotype 2. It's always a good idea to have copies of all your blood tests and procedure reports and you might ask for them now.
Your hoarse throat could be from Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) which can be diagnosed by an ENT specialist. If that's the case, they may put you on a PPI like Nexium or a H2 Pump like Zantac. Or maybe it's just from yelling "'I'M UND! I'M UND! I'M UND!" at the top of your lungs in which case they may just recommended resting your voice.
As to "passing along" Hep C, not sure what you mean. Even before you treated it would be very difficult to pass along the virus except through blood-to-blood contact such as sharing a needle, or perhaps a personal item such as a toothbrush. Sexual transmission is rare and I imagine you were told to use condoms during treatment and for six months after treatment (that's because of the ribavirin not because you're contagious) -- so not sure what you're worried about. That said, transmission does appear to be related to viral load levels, so if your're UND via a very sensitive test then you probably would not pass it along but again, not sure how you would anyway as long as you do not engage in high risk activities or share personal items.

Thanks for all for the encouragment gang! Sending it right back at ya! No need for sommersaults or strenuous arobic activity Meki!! The Dr. Pepper will do just fine... It is not so misunderstood any more!! :)
Epifany don't freak out or worry...things will be fine if you have a good doc, who knows what they are doing!! Just keep asking questions! When mine starts going "Latin" on me I just tell him to slow down, stop and speak English. LOL
I'm learning It is all a balancing act. It all can be and is frightening but you have the right attitude girl!! We can all and will do this together, just staying in the positive!
About the hair I just heard due to to the current economic mess we are in here, "depression chic" is back in mode, and as I allready tend to wear poor boy hats on occassion... I am way ahead of the fashion world... just in case the hair begins to go too fast! ;)
Thanks again everyone, you're all my pieces of the rock of Gibralter!
Rocking and rolling on!!!
Dragon Tamer
