6 Mo Post Tx - SVR! SVR! SVR!

I finally get to make this post.   I am undetectable!

I had HVC genome 2b.

I did 6 months of Interferon shots and Rivaviron.  I was undetectable at 4 weeks out, and have stayed that way since.  My ALT/AST levels are now back in normal ranges.

I am very happy, and very thankful that it worked out for me so we..

I don't seem to have any lasting side effects, however my immune system was pretty whacked out after tx.  For instance, the first few weeks after TX I developed huge (painful) boils (6 of them over a period of 2 months)  on my chin, forehead, under my friken nose!  and a big cyclops one between my eyes.  , and that was pretty miserable.

But now those too seem to have cleared up.

My hair thinned out a lot and I lost about half of it, but now I have 2 inch long growths all over and it clearly is growing back.

I had tons of skin problems during TX, and now I just have some minor psoriasis.

My energy levels are back to what they were.

One thing though, I now seem to have arthritic pain in my hands.    That could just be age, and I already had some degenerative disc disease issues (sciatica pain).

I just wanted to share my experience with others.  It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  I was very zombie like all during tx, and I had to take wellbutrin to control the emotions.  I'm off that now too and feel very optimistic about the future.

Oh, that might have something to do with another life long dream about to come true, I close escrow on a house in Napa next week.  It has been a long time coming!

I have nothing but good wishes and hopes for everyone out there.  In the end, I am very glad I chose to do the treatment.

Now I can say I have the damn dragon off my back, and if my liver reports keep looking as good as they are, I might even have a glass of wine here and there.

Here is to Hope at the End of the Tunnel!  *cheers*

Yeah!!! Congratulations to you!  We finished around the same time I think.  I had the hand/joint pain for a while too. At first it concerned me. Now it is gone along with all the sides. I feel great.
So happy to hear your good news! Way to go :D.

Congratulations on your SVR!!!  Glad to hear that recovery has been relatively complete as well.  Arthritis or joint pain seems to be a fairly common "souvenir" of treatment.  I'd like to read more on statistics in that regard however an unscientific sampling of folks who post here sees it cropping up often enough to tie it together.

Good luck to you as you continue to move on from this and congrats on your house in Napa ... all the best.
