Aloha

Hi  I  am a 47 yr old wife a mom, I was diagnosed with Hep C in 1997 during a obgyn appt with my youngest daughter, she is 10 now and has no Hep C. I had a blood transfusion in the late 70's and that is how I contracted it. I have started peg/ Riba in April 07 but so far have not responded well, although I have dropped from 28.million now 76,000 they will keep me on till week 24 and we will decide what to do next if still detected. Infergen will probably be another option. So far I have not missed but one day of work, no major sides like rashes, vomiting, nausea, just the fatigue and aches. My question is do alot of people find it harder on infergen then the pegasys? I am a geno type 1b grade 3 stage 4 with cirrohsis. I have what they call a compensated liver. it has not been easy but i thank the Good Lord when it comes to a sense of humor to laugh at even the Brain fog days, I also write poetry and words of encouragement to help me get through the times of uncertainties.  come visit me when you can..it was good to find this place...

Giving a shout out to my Sistah Michelle in Maui. LOL you ended up in Maui and I ended up in Honolulu. what's up with that??? hmmm could the vog be a part of it???  LOL I love the Big Island but the funny thing is my husband is from Kentucky and he is scared of volcanos... Well so much for going back home to live. Hoping Flossie will be nice  cuz I hate going into crowded stores for emergency supplies.." The Riba Rage Diva just might make her appearance than I will have to go and apologize and explain that.. " My Liver made me to do"  ( Hee hee)..

Meki.. LOL I'm glad you know what the vog is now.. despite it all Hawaii is just beautiful!!!
Well I will know by next month what my next step will be..just praying for wisdom when decision time come...        Aloha Joyful

VOG: similar to SMOG but is created by all the sulphur and stuff that comes out of a volcano.  In the case of what's happening on the Big Isle, the volcano has been going on since November of 1983.  It get's pretty bad in places over there, namely the Kona coast.  When the trade winds drop, the nasty stuff sometimes drifts across the channel to Maui.  People with respiratory problems have a hard time with it.

A hurricane (Flossie) is approaching but will probably be downgraded to a tropical storm by the time it reaches Maui.  I'll keep you all posted...  Anybody see the meteor showers?  I can't keep my eyes open long enough to see even one... (shooting star)

'Bye!

Wassa VOG?

Yanno -- I must like this place --- I read everything voraciously... LOL!

Nice to meet you joyful... As to whether Infergen is harder or not - I don't know... Check with Susan400 and a couple of the double or tripler txers... They would probably know. I think it depends on how you react to the medicine, individually. GOOD LUCK!!!! and keep your humor.

I'm so glad you keep a blog --- that is so important on the tx to keep in touch with yourself.

But ya gotta tell me what a VOG is..

Yes!!! I was born and raised on the big island of Hawaii..with the on going lava flows the island is getting even bigger. yeah the vog is not good even for me with my asthma.  I left the big island and went to Honolulu met my hubby we have been in military for many years but got out on medical disability. I do keep a blog and I write my poetry and devotions there.   best of luck on your journey also..remember wars cannot be won with battles so fight the good fight!!!  Aloha

Aloha back to you!  Are you in Hawaii? I lived on the big island for a couple of years. I'd probably be back there now if it weren't for the vog.
I am geno. 2 with cirrhosis. I finished 32 weeks of tx just 4 weeks ago.  You sound like you're doing well with the tx. I don't think it matters how hard people find pegasys than infergen. I think what is important is how it is effecting you.   I agree that a sense of humor can be our greatest asset during tx.  I kept a small book of meditations by the bed to help me keep my mind in a serene place.
Best of luck to you.      keep smiling :)          OH
