Any suggestions on a healthy fatty food???

I know coconut oil is great for the skin especially when you get a rash... I read a few websites about this stuff... They have diets and a bunch of other stuff that i dont wanna get into... But coconut oil has 130 Calories from fat and 13 calories of saturated fat... When you ingest it.. Is it really that healthy for you with all that fat and saturated fat??? If coconut oil is a good choice how should i prepare it?? Im not really educated with reading some of the Nutrition facts on some products... But since i need to eat some thing fatty with the meds we take, im thinking coconut oil would be the healthier choice instead of ice cream and all that junk food.. any suggestions on a healthy fatty food??? On Tx so far i been gaining weight instead of losing... How much fat in food is enough to eat with these pills??

Ah...jd...that's my favorite recipe of yours, lol!

I ate vanilla activia with choc chips and granola in it.  And ice cream.  Nuts are good.  Taboulle, hummus.  Cheese.  Peanut butter. Toast with butter.  Slimfast with whole milk.

I love the coconut oil for my skin/hair, but have never been able to just eat it....but I know some that take a teaspoonfull with their pills.

I gained weight in the beginning too.  But after 12 weeks I lost it all and then some.

Good luck =)

I wouldn't dare stick my nose into such a controversial topic as to how much food and fat should be taken with ribavirin. I'm of the maximum 20% fat camp, so I'd best duck my head to avoid arrows about to fly my way.

Some here are very dedicated fans of coconut oil but I'm not one. Seeing my one jar of coconut oil remain congealed at room temperature persuaded me. For fat, I stick to avocado, almond, walnut, canola and olive either as whole food or oil derivatives. And just a modest amount.

On the other hand, I sometimes had an overpowering, crazy craving for Brie and had to give into it or die. So call me hypocritical.

I agree with lalapple ~ avocado got me through tx!  Raw almonds are good too.  I also would make vinagrette dressing with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and have that with some crumbled bleu cheese, its good on salad or on crackers or crostini. A yogurt smoothie is nice with the morning riba. You don't have to eat a huge amount of fat but have a bit with the riba and you will absorb it better.

Good luck.
