Building Up Platelets after Tx

  Everybody is different, when it comes to how fast their platelets went back to normal, after their treatment.
I am 6 weeks post Tx, and have chosen not to have any labs done yet.
    I was wondering if people on here, who have finished Tx('s) could check in, and let me know how long it took, for your platelets to rise, and did they rise quickly, or gradually, etc.
   Also, if they DID rise quickly (I remember Frijoles' went up quickly I think?) what was your secret?  Right now I am
paying attention to nutrition and exercise...taking vitamin D3 and B12, and lots of green tea : )

My week 4 post tx platelets were lower than my baseline.During treatment only twice they went a bit lower than baseline.From what i've seen,most folks they rise back 12 to 24 weeks after treatment.

Why spend time worrying about platelets? As long as your blood clots and you are above 20-25,000 and you are not having bleeding it is meaningless. Interferon based-treatment suppresses the bone marrow production of platelets, as the treatment drugs disappears from the body the body returns to producing platelets normally and platelet rise to normal levels for that individual.

Also platelet count has no subject affect on how one feels. 400,000 or 40,000 platelets, a person will feels no differently. That is why people with compensated cirrhosis can have no symptoms even though they can have a very low platelet counts. Patients that have only platelet transfusions don't feel differently even have their platelet count doubled in a few hours.

People that have done treatment should be worried about the main reason they did treatment... to get rid of the virus by staying undetectable.

Typical response is rapid rise of platelet count in the first few weeks post treatment then gradual rise after that to week 72 after starting treatment.
