Thank for all the info!! I drink just about everything anymore I don't just stay on Kool-aid it there for the Kids !!
I'm no saint. I have my chocolate; dark, bittersweet, melt in my mouth enjoyment!
if not for chocolate I can't think of many other reasons that good to live while on treatment - especially with dry mouth chocolate ice cream is ahhhhhhhhh a slice of heaven ;)
I believe in compromise with this treatment. And that means having SOME enjoyable things of life...so I had plenty of liquid but if it containned sugar I didn't avoid it.
Hey - gotta have SOME good things in life ;)
I put sliced lemon in with my water. But, you know what? tx is not about what we want! You do what you have to do and if you want to help your kidneys clear the riba, drink your H2O. I would stay away from koolaid. Not only are you taxing your liver with the sugar but there's all kinds of junk in there. If you have to go for sweet, do it with fruit juice.
I too get bored with water. I have a glass that holds 32 oz. I make myself drink one before lunch and one after before I leave. I have found I like fresh Lemon so sometimes I squeeze that and it helps with the blah taste. Vitamin C can't hurt. I don't like the artificial flavorings in some waters ugh!
You could also try juices without very much sugar in them. I was so sick of water but forced myself. It helped with the sides.
OH is right! It's not about what we WANT to do or we would all be on a beach or out doing something fun. I get the juice sweetened with splenda and then water it down. The other day I made a concoction of pomegranite juice, oj, cranberry juice and evian. It looked like a red brown mess. Next day I switched to ice water and lemon. I worry about all the sugar in juice, now I guess I should worry about the splenda too!
I pound the water and found that if it is room temp goes down easier. best of luck :)shelly
My doc said liquid is liquid so if you want you can drink juice and things like that. Of course most drinks like that are full of sugar - my body CRAVED sugar while on tx, I HAD to have it.
But there are great drinks out now that do not contain sugar...but we are supposed to be careful about using fake sugar right now so I just drank the real thing.
I just could NOT continue to pound down all the water all the time anymore so I was REALLY glad to hear it I tell you that.
I can understand you not liking water, but drinking water with a cup of sugar in it, like you are doing with KoolAid is really hard on your liver. I'd try to find some other substitute, pure fruit juices of lemon in water or something. You don't want to be drinking several cups of refined sugar a day!
I'm getting used to drinking a lot of water. If my urine gets too yellow orange I know I'm not drinking enough. I don't mind drinking water. Even when you are not on strong chemical treatment you need to drink 8 glasses of water a day to be healthy. I always feel better when my hydrated. Also, it helps lessen the side effects.
