That's so funny that you pointed that out! I read about the moving the bird's nest and the mother bird attacking you, but guess I sorta didn't pay attention to the location and movie part. Your brain is doing well with all these meds. Order me a round of SAM-e with a reservatrol chaser!
Hugs,
Bug

Look at my reply above, re: the paragraph about the birds being filmed in Bodega, where I once lived.

So interesting to read all my favorites chatting away! I've been working, catching up on sleep, going to my mother-in-laws to help her exercise, and haven't really been on the last few days.
Wyntre: I'm worried about the whole blood thing, but the worrying is a protective mechanism for you. I feel if I don't worry, the chances of a bad outcome are greatly increased, due to my nonchalance.
But, as I posted earlier to you, altitude does play a significant role in your particular lab levels, probably that's all it is.
F-ing rcoons! Poor Orphanhawk, glad you have baby vultures to fill the empty nest syndrome.
Grandma, you just don't slow down. Busy, busy busy. Are you sure you're on tx?
Child The Birds was the scariest picture I've ever seen. Wasn't it filmed in California? Something's happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.....
Hugs, (I stole that hug thing from Child)

I couldn't get online this morning because I went to walk a mile with my walking club while it was cool. Then I had an outing to Old Sacramento for lunch and a river cruise. Didn't get home until 3.

I don't think that altitude change would make that big a difference. I moved to 3500 foot elevation 3 1/2 years ago and it took me a year to get used to it. I had never lived at that elevation in my life, always see level up to 600 feet max.

Sounds like you had a great day!!!!!

I'm so glad!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the altitude not being that much of an increase but on TX maybe it does have an effect.

that's what a couple of athlete buddies of mine tell me, at any rate and if a 1,000 foot change in elevation can affect professional athletes i guess it might affect me, too.  but everyone is different.

I think I just LIKE that theory better than the having polycythemia one.  *LOL*

at any rate, i'm gonna try and drag myself to the lab in the morning for another blood draw.

Have fun!  What's on your agenda tomorrow?

elaine,

Has he tried the daily intergergen or the maintenance dose?  (I don't know much about it, just remember having seen some articles discussing that).

And please remind me of his genotype and VL.

He sure is a fighter.  I admire him (and you) for that.

Hawke,

i Loooove vultures - In parts of Tibet they're the official burial brigade!

how many babies?  2 or 3?

Did ya see my post below about the nestful of Carolina wrens and the families of house finches?

if ya can't find it i'll copy it in this thread.

So, how goes it?  how many more weeks for you?  (I'm thinking 3 to 4, right?)

I think there were at least 3-5 of the young ones. The parents were there too, all swooping around in and out and above the oak trees. I love the way they fly, so effortlessly.  I did see your post about the nestlings. We've had all kinds of baby birds and busy parents. Now, you can't see a crow that isn't being chased by an angry little bird.
My bad news is the fukking raccoons ate my ducks. They squeezed under a door and tore a chicken wire enclosure to get to them. I think one of them got into a vineyard's toxic herbicides and became supercoon.
I just saw a cool movie called, The Story of the Weeping Camel. No birds but a peak into a Mongolian families life, camels and music used for healing.
Oh, I just did shot 4 of my countdown. It is really great to be thinking about something other than HCV. Thanks for asking.  You will make it through the mire too!!   And I will send you exotic bird photos from, um, somewhere else. :)

A recycled College Drinking song in honor of your countdown

4 More Injections of Peg

(sung to 100 bottles of Beer on the Wall)

4 more injections of peg in the fridge
4 more injections of peg
Ya take one out
And jab it about
3 more injections of peg in the fridge

(BREATHE)

3 more injections of peg in the fridge
3 more injections of peg
ya take one out
and jab it about
2 more injections of peg in the fridge

(BREATHE)

I think you can figure out the rest!  :)

PS -  Sooooooo sorry about your duckies.  that happened with a feral pregnant cat i rescued, when i was a novice birder, and there wasn't a darn thing left of  my poor feathered friend)

Nothing special planned tomorrow. I have to do my shot in the a.m. As the following week I'm flying  out of town for my younger grandson's 6th birthday, so I'm doing my shot on Thurs. afternoon instead of Fri. I don't want to carry my meds on the plane.

I think the reason altitude affects athletes is because the air is thinner the higher you go in altitude. So they don't get enough oxygen.

Excuse my getting off topic, I hope they don't let Rosie do the Price is Right. She's a loose cannon, and what an ego! It's all about her. Bob Barker was mellow and humble, the complete opposite.

Wyntre, I love that song, or rather, your version of it for me. I've lost every duck I tried to raise either to bobcats, coyotes, raccoons or other critters. I tried keeping geese once supposedly to protect the ducks but then I had these nasty heel hissers to deal with.
Angel, I don't know about the chickens where you are but nature is acting looney around here too. Not just birds and mammals but the plants as well.
Funny your mentioning that Hitchcock film. the Birds. I lived in Bodega where it was filmed. My husband moved a starlings nest out of  the flowery quince. Mama bird decided I was the culprit and she began attacking me, swooping down to peck at my head. It just was so strange for that to happen in that location.

May everyone have a sunny Summer Solstice full of an abundance of joy!
Wyntre: Remember the vultures mating on my telephone poll? Well now there's a group of youngsters practicing their swoops and soars, their new feathers  bright and shiny.
for the flock: Squawk, cackle, and cheep, cheep.

Is he going to try a different combo of meds or are the doctors still mulling that over?

I was so wiped out from the 5 hour round trip between NY and NJ yesterday that I just crashed.

I'm gonna go tomorrow.

I have been reading more and this altitude thing really could have something to do with the HgB increase as I've gone from 0 feet above sea level to 1500!

Or maybe it's that I'm hitting one of those nasty plateaus.

Anyway, thanks for asking.  I'm staying VERY positive and since the Dr. didn't seem to think it was anything more than a lab blip, I'm trying to relax.

It's just I've never seen any of my levels veer off like that - from 11.4 to 16.4 in two weeks.  but a friend told me her boyfriend had the same problem with hgb when he started smoking again after a heart attack and that his HgB shot up 7 points in a week.

Just freaked me out a little.

What's up with Nick?  And how are you?
