Drugs To Treat Anemia

Sorry for this post as the news aint good,but im just trying to warn of all the dangers we face,this is about cancer but it may also be pertaining to HCV as these drugs are use to TX HCV,I loading up on foods good too lower my BP

ScienceDaily (Nov. 11, 2009) — Medications frequently given to cancer patients to reduce their risk of anemia are associated with an increased risk of deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism, according to new research led by Dawn Hershman, M.D, M.S., co-director of the breast cancer program at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center. The findings will be published online on Nov. 10, 2009 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (ahead of the Dec. 2, 2009 print edition).

The difference between white and apple cider vinegar is that white vinegar is made from acetous fermentation of alcohol and apple cider vinegar is made from cider or apple must.

~~~i feel like a mad scientist~~~~
Sounds about right with that recipe above.
I am glad your BP is coming back down.  Mine was high during tx, 145-ish/90-ish, but back down to my normal now 110-115/70ish.
Formula i devised for the magnesium spray:
1 tablespoon of MAG =35 g =(3.5gr of MAG element)
100g of MAG =35 gr of MAG element
100g of MAG mixed with 300 gr of water gives me 150 sprays
1 spray =.o7/gr
5 sprays =350mg of MAG element
i rounded the numbers off but thisis close enuff for me
Ive been reading up on magnesium and how it can lower BP,ive been taking it daily but not the "normal" way,ive been mixing epson salt(magnesium sulfate)in a spray bottle with water and spraying on my skin,They say its best this way as the stomach acids affect the way the MAG gets absorbed.Also been doing a table spoon of brewers yeast daily as this is know to raise good cholesterol and lower the bad(chromium is the reason as its chocked full)
BTW...i mix 100 grams of epson to 300 groms of water,i have it all figers out that 6 sprays equals 500mgs...the bodys requirement...i feel like a mad scientist
Interesting post to me because the first center I went to had stopped giving tx-er's procrit.  They preferred letting them get to 8 and then transfusing.  For that reason, I took my daughter to the mayo intending to treat there--thinking  quality of life during tx vs the slight risk of adverse events from the procrit.
Now I gotta rethink.
Thanks all.
People deemed at risk for DVT are usually determined to be such because of blood factors, not blood pressure.  Though it's true that patients with history of PE can have pulmonary hypertension, you can't measure that using a BP obtained by a cuff -- just like you can't assess the presence or absence portal hypertension by taking the BP in your arm.  (Bottom line, just because one has low BP does not exclude one from risk of DVT or PE -- there are many other mechanisms involved, and BP taken by arm is a poor prognosticator.)
Post-thrombotic syndrome is caused by damage to the one-way valves in the veins, which leads to high blood pressure in these blood vessels.
Patients who experience recurrent PE may develop high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
Of those patients who have deep-vein thrombosis (DVT) but are not treated for it, about 10-20% develop PE. PE is the most serious complication of DVT, and occurs when a blood clot in the vein breaks up into smaller pieces called emboli. These pieces of clot can be carried in the blood to the lungs where they can obstruct the blood vessels and reduce or prevent the flow of blood to the lungs. If PE is left untreated, you are at a higher risk of related problems such as heart failure or sudden death. Patients who experience recurrent PE may develop high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs (pulmonary hypertension).
Important info for anyone considering erythropoietin -- not many people read the drug inserts, but the black box warning on Procrit is definitely pretty eye-opening.  However, I don't quite understand you correlating the article at all to BP -- the concerns about thrombosis and embolism (and the increased incidence of cancer) are related to blood cell function, not blood-pressure.
I've heard that Procrit can sometimes aslo boost platelets -- I wonder perhaps it's higher clotting factor contributing to thrombosis and embolism...?  The study compares patients who used ESAs and/or transfusion against patients who didn't, but I'd be interestedto see a comparison of the ESA-only group against the transfusion-only group, and their rates of DVT and PE.  I guess the the good news is the 'overall survival.. was similar' in both epo and non-epo groups.  ~eureka
I guess that people who have high BP would be closely monitored, or lets say should be closely monitored.
People like me who have low BP would probably get a good little kick out of it, if it would bring their BP up a little. My BP during tx was 88 /55 on average, significantly adding to the 'feel like krap, can't get out of bed' syndrome. :-)
I wouldn't have made it through 72 weeks without epogen - I would take it again even with the new warning.  Liver cancer, breast cancer - it's all a big damn gamble this stupid hepatitis game that is for sure.
