I've had a couple people offer me use of loaner cars. I've actually got some clunkers to use as trade-ins, but that means finding the titles and getting them running - too much effort the way I'm feeling right now. Managed half a day of work, went home, ate some ibuprofen, and slept. Shoulder where I was hanging upside down from safety harness feels a lot better, but generally achy and brain obviously got shook around inside my head a bit. No worse than spending a full day doing carnival rides.

Can't even do cash for clunkers if it isn't running.  Can't believe that is all they are giving you.  I still carry full coverage on all our paid up cars and I do wonder what the Totaled payoff would be.  Probably not much.

So are you walking or did you have a backup?

I can vouch for Volvo - I once did Volvo v. dumptruck and lived to tell the tale!  

Now all night long I'll be thinking about that poor poodle!

I glad to hear you and your pups are okay...As a paramedic, I've seen many people and pet tragedies caused by the lack of seat restraints on both. The most preventable and very sad accident was from an obese 60ish lady who wasn't wearing her seatbelt, was talking on a cell phone, and ran through a red light and was broadsided...Her poor little teacup poodle was in the seat next to her, and was suffocated when she flew into the passenger seat and landed on him...(Stop laughing you sickos!) Yes, Scraps was scrapped...Cause of death? Traumatic asphyxia...The lesson here? If she'd been wearing her seatbelt, hadn't been talking on the cell phone and been aware of her surroundings, or had secured Scraps in the back seat or left him at home, the tragedy would have been avoided...
Does replacing a car seem any better now? FYI...Toyota, Honda, Volvo and a few of the Ford models hold up well in front-end, rear-end, and side impact collisions...There are more, but these are the ones I see most often...(((((((HUGZ)))))))~MM

It's amazing how quickly a $12,000 used car can suddenly become a $3,600 car three years later  after the 'appraiser' does his magic.

My friend told me I had 9 lives but I was going through them awful %^&*ing fast. It sounds like you are as well. I'm happy that you're all well....and you do get a new car. I always try and see the bright side.
