Skin condition NOT Riba Rash

I have developed a skin condition that will not go away.  I have something wrong with my eyelids; they stay puffed, red, extra wrinkled, dryed out, flaky etc.  I have a couple of spots size of a dime that are red and flare up and down but never go away.  A lady a work yesterday said it looks like ringworm.  I think she may be right.  I have felt for a long time that I am covered in staph infections.  My mom suggested antibacterial soap as opposed to dove that doesn't have it.  I have hydrocortisone cream but don't know if that cures ringworm?  I also got a small splinter in under my fingernail which I removed weeks ago.  That turned into a red line down the middle of my nail.  Then at the end of the red line a dot of white developed which got a little larger and more obvious day by day.  I am on an antibiotic for that.  In addition I have developed a yeast infection and it won't go away.  Shouldn't the antibiotic that I am on cure the yeast infection?  This is getting very stressful.

And for those who want to rule out STD's, I haven't had sex in 5 yrs.

After being told I have ringworm by a co-worker and having to jump in the bathtub at 3 am to soak (no laughing please) I have become an emotional wreck today and crying about this whole sitution.

I didn't have a 4 or 8 wk pcr; only the 10 wk.  I called the dx this morning to clarify why I would be extending two more weeks and explained to them that I had two injections left last friday when I was at my appt.  Turns out today is my last injection, there was a misunderstanding and i finish off the riba (a weeks worth).  So tonight is shot 48 and next thursday I will be finished offically with the Riba...I am glad to have that straightened out.

I have a Dermatologist appt today and will leave my job in about 20 mins (it's right down the street) and then come back.  This is to find out IF I have ringworm or not and what the heck is going on with my skin.  My co-worker so-called friend said if I have ringworm than I should not be at work.  I really don't have anything to say to her about anything right now.

Ladybug - Thank you!  I will check out that website ASAP.

Definitely not ringworm!

It's been brought up before, here's a link to a Medhelp question:

As pointed out before, antibiotics cause yeast infections, they don't help cure at all. Your dr can treat the yeast and eyelid problems, I know it's stressfull, but that's the quickest way to get help.

given your bio and being UND at week 10 they may be hedging your bet to the positive side by extending you to 50 weeks, like you say after 48 what’s two more weeks. The week 10 pcr was that the first one you had after starting treatment or did you have a 4 or 8 week pcr? I went the 48 and did 5 more on my own so the mind set helps a lot. Also, thanks for posting about the skin condition, the link that isobella posted helped me with similar problems that have pledged me before, during and here after treatment.

Thanks I will go to a dermatologist ASAP.  I feel relieved that it is not a ringworm.

Towards the end of my 72 weeks I developed an autoimmune rash - red and itchy and if i itch it bleeds and gets worse and worse. I finally broke down and went to a derm and he prescribed a very very strong med for it that you can only use for two weeks at a time (and never should use on face but that is where my rash mostly was).

It comes and goes but never goes away completely (it's my hands now that have it).

I was stubborn - I should have gone to the derm doc a LONG time before I did. By the time I went I had scars from not scratching all day long and then in a sudden fit I'd go CRAZY.

I would advise you to go to a doc - since you know it's not riba rash go to the doc...don't be a lunkhead like me and end up scarring yourself because you are too stubborn.

(PS I tried every single over the counter remedy and nothing worked until I got the script)

Good luck.

Thank you - and unfortunately I did let that co-worker get to me.  I almost sent her an email to tell her I am not at work and I won't be back until I am cleared up.  I am glad that I didn't.  She happens to be my supervisor.

I have atopic dermatitis and sometimes get something that sounds like what u described on my eyelids. Mine looks bad, but is not ringworm.

I keep all makeup and hairproducts away from the area.  Sometimes the harsher soaps can make it worse by drying it even more.

Ask your doc about using hydrocortisone creams in that area-mild so it won't get into your eyes.  That would be really bad.

Unless your co-worker is a dermatologist-don't let her get you down :-).

Good luck to you,

Izzy

Antibiotics will not help yeast infections, in fact they can cause them, for me anyway.  Monistat or diflucan OTC for the yeast infection.  Not sure about the other.
