Treatment and marrow stims?

Was taking the usual interferon and riba treatment 3yrs back and almost died from anemia, hemo count went to 4 and had to go to emergency and stay for a 24 hrs and get 5 units of blood and bone marrow stims. I really felt terrible from side effects and couldn't possible drk any more water. My new Dr. is suggesting new treatment with boc. or whatever and suggested a lower dose of riba plus possible bone marrow stims weekly-biweekly to keep anemia in check. Anybody heard of doing this?

Doesn't bocepravir make anemia worse isn't that one of the side effects of it? I wonder why he would not pick telapravir instead over the boce and then keep a close eye on a weekly hemo and hit you up with the epogen. It would be possible to do when the meds come out - I took epo 2x a week myself.  That is possible.

Do you mean epogen when you say bone marrow stims, or did your doctor mean something else?  I know some people get the riba dose lowered or take epogen for anemia or both but I don't know about adding boc. or tela.  So far if the trial allowed epogen then fine but if the trial didn't allow it then the only option for really bad anemia is to drop the riba dose.  Your anemia sounds like it was pretty bad so I guess have a plan in place in case it drops again.  I think boc. caused worse anemia than tela.
