WYNTRE is DONE!

And not a moment too soon.  I've been draggin a$$ for months.  Last night I did #72, at half dose, and also took my last riba.

Now it's finger and toe crossing time.

Thanks eveyone for your encouragement.  I haven't been around much for many reasons, including blurred vision which makes it hard to type.  But hugs all around and I will keep y'all posted.  Did my last labs today, another in 4 weeks and then to the Dr.

Thanks again.  I could not have finished treatment without this forum.  Blessings to all.

Thanks all.
NYGirl,
Didn't you have a 4 week PCR or did you wait for the 3 month?

Merrybe,

how is your tx going?

MO4,

So sorry your hubby has to do another round.  :-(
BTW - I started Dec. 23 2006 and finished April 22 2008.   Another year would have killed me for sure!!

Way to go.  I've been reading since '05 and remember when you started.... not posting much these days.  Husband went 48 (slow response) relapsed, started again, stopped at 24...is taking a break from the drugs on doc's advice and is starting 72 later in the summer with a switch from PegIntron to Pegasys. His viral load is holding steady around 80,000 which is totally a wierd number.  He was a early Grade 4, Stage 3 so he's got to keep plugging to keep the nasty fibrosis away. Whew 72 is going to be one long haul.  Yeah for you to be finished.  This stupid Hep C.   I'll be watching with my fingers crossed for good results in the coming months...

And I wish you ALL of the best and you better know it!

What am I up to? Other than painting, I'm just enjoying the nesting birds, getting ready for the arrival of a granddaughter and planning to fly East next month to see her next month.
I'm still working on getting the broken arm back to normal, slow thing.
And I've started viewing life like sci-fi. It helps :)

Shastri,

Thanks for remembering me!   :-)
How are you feeling post TX?  let us know.

Laurie,
I read your post about still not being back to normal physically and how frustrating it is.  Thanks for posting.  i need a reality check, too.  While I am MUCH better, 13 days post meds;  energy levels much higher, mood much brighter, tolerance level increased, I can FEEl the back thigh flab, which I NEVER had before, and can actually pinch the skin between two fingers.  UGHHHHHH!!!!
Funny thing is i weigh LESS than before TX, dropped a size or two, and still feel the excess flabbies.   So I'm planning on joining a gym within the next two months and try to slowly build muscle again.  (And i HATE the gym!!!!!)

Other than that, I have my fingers crossed for my 4 week, May 26 post TX PCR..
Keep us posted and drop a note now and then to let me know how you're feeling.

PS - the 8belles tragedy had me in tears for days.  i will never follow horse racing again.  :-(

Goofy,

Well, I'll take that as  an unequivocal SVR YES as we all know what a finely-honed sense of smell you have.  You are, after all, the king of all poop threads.  *LOL*

WOW!  R. Glass!  you lucky dog you; only 6 months!   You got this thing beat.  Bet Goofy can smell it, too.  :-)

Hey I found a video of the parrots I saw! It's not really good quality, but you can see how they fly back to her. They were flying with seagulls when I saw them too, it was something to see!

Glad to hear things are going well for you!  that gives me hope that not only will I reach permanent SVR, but maybe I'll regain mental and physical strength, as well!

About feral parrots (can't help myself) there really IS a feral colony in San Francisco.  That's what the documentary "The Wild Parrots of Telegraph HIll" chronicles.  You can rent it online and you can visit the colony in SF.  I'm sure there are tours just like with the Brooklyn and Edgewater parrots.  And, the REAL wyntre looks just like the images on the brooklyn parrots site.  Venus, the bird on my profile, is a spectacular blue-front Amazon parrot, about 30 years old.  The longest recorded lifespan of a blue-front is 98 years!!!!!.

BTW,  Is that a pic of you?  You look great!

My life is going well, thanks for asking. For some reason I thought you were in CA so I thought you might relate to the LaJolla story (LaJolla is a beach in San Diego). I even thought there was some small possibility you might have known the person that was "falconing" those parrots. Maybe I was somehow combining you and orphanhawk in my interferon addled memory and somehow combined your two personas? I dunno. ;-)

Anyway, that's a really interesting story about the "feral parrots!" Haha! Never heard of a feral parrot, learn something new every day. But that's amazing they can survive the winter, I would think those tropical birds would be rather fragile in cold weather. But I guess they're a little hardier than I had imagined. That would be cool to look out the window and see some feral parrots hanging out in the tree in the back yard. Especially if they could talk! Man I'd really think I was losing it then. ;-)

What a great story!  Thanks for sharing!

At first I thought you must have wandered into the "Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill" territory.  There are colonies of wild parrots all over the country, including the northeast.  As a matter of fact, my namesake, Wyntre, is a feral Quaker parrot from the Edgewater NJ colony.  There's also a wild group in Brooklyn college, another in Connecticut (http://www.brooklynparrots.com) and colonies of wild budgies inBrooklyn.  What's truly remarkable is that they survive the freezing temperatures.  If you check the site I linked you'll see flocks of Quakers in the snow in the photo gallery.  (Don't get me started about birds . LOL).

Wyntre, a wild Quaker, flew into a cage on my deck on the day of the winter solstice in 2005.  That's how he, and I, got our names.

It is truly amazing the parrots you saw were domestic birds and were trained to return to their human.  I have a couple of friends who are Master Falconers and their raptors fly free and return to the lure or to a whistle signal but it's unusual to hear about that with parrots.  One of the falconers says he can hook up my Amazon, Venus, with a leg band and harness so i can free fly her but I'd be terrified she'd get spotted by a hungry Cooper or Red-tail.

How is your life these days?  And thanks much for chiming in.

Congrats wyntre, good luck on the weeks and months to come. I was on LaJolla beach several weeks ago and was walking along listening to some tunes and all of sudden I saw these incredibly beautiful, colorful parrots flying in formation with a seagull round and round in circles. They were squawking and squawking as they flew around and around and you could tell they were just having the time of their life. I was so taken aback by it and it was so unexpected I almost wasn't sure what to make of it at first. Just for an instant I thought I had somehow been transported to some kind of paradisial tropical isle, but then I came to my senses and guessed that the poor buggers got out of somebody's house and escaped. But then I eventually noticed some lady was walking along with her husband on the beach and was basically falconing those birds. She was taking them out for their morning "walk", where they'd get to fly free side by side with each other on the beach and chase after seagulls. It was really something to see, it was just a beautiful and touching sight. They reliably returned to the owner too, they showed no tendencies of flying off on her.

Anyway, seeing those birds made me think of you. Hopefully things are going well now that you've finished so that both you and your birds can fly free and happy like the ones I saw that day. Best of luck snagging your SVR!

Andiamo, DP, Hawke, nygirl,
Thanks everyone.  i think I must be going through peg withdrawal coz the past 2 days have been lousy.  That happen to anyone else?
My Own,

oh Jeez!  Double dosing peg!  You have my deepest sympathies and my wishes and prayers that the second try is a charm.

Teevee - 2 more!!!!! Great news for you!

DP, BOL on your 6 month!  it's gonna be SVR and then you can put this episode behind you.  Can't wait until I'm at that point.

Hawke,
What have you been up to lately?

nygirl,
You have been a beacon for me, Deb.  When I first joined forum you were close to finishing your marathon and I followed your story very closely, from fears that you might have relapsed, to the false positive and the corrected neg results, to your 6 month SVR.  Did you do your 1 year, yet?.
