Worst Allergy/Asthma Season in History

I just read on msnbc.com that this year is the worst allergy and asthma season in history of the country and it's not expected to get any better for long long time.  Once the tree pollen which is out now departs then they expect that the grass/weed pollen is going to take over big time.

For anyone who has allergies (I've never had them this bad in YEARS) I thought it'd be a good idea to buy Claritin or Benedryl or whatever you take before there is a run on the meds and they are harder to find and the price goes up.  That usually is what happens it ends up costing us, the consumer.

I'm feeling it this year.  Been taking allergy pills routinely for longer than usual.

I don't know if that is what got me last week but I ended up in the hospital with pneumoia on Tuesday.  Normally I get the sinus infection, sore throat and then it hits the chest......not this time.

Brutal here. It started three weeks ago with itchy eyes and stuffed up head. Lost my voice seven days ago. My doctor put me out of work this whole week, gave me a shot and put me on a Z Pack. I have NEVER had allergies this bad. Went camping last week and it was like an oak pollen bomb exploded. Was using Claritin D and Benedryl, but doc has me using Advil Cold and Sinus, Mucinex DM and then Ocean Spray 5-6 times a day.

Good luck peeps because the indexes have been record breaking here in SoFL after an unusually cold winter.

Wow, that's weird because I'm in FL and so far where I'm at we haven't yet hit the 90's this spring and w/you being in the North, that's really wacky!  We've certainly had the pollen though, HUGELY!!  For a few weeks now and I have the itchy eyes, wheezynesss, itchy nose and throat clearing to prove it. ;p       I normally take a 1/2 a Benedryl every night just to keep from having it (the allergies) mess w/my sleep.

It was 93 here the other day - it broke the records of course.....you can't live on the ocean in the beginning of April and get that weather.

We have had a week of lovely warm weather in the northeast - temps in the high 80s (I swear it never got this warm all summer last year) and all the trees burst into bloom.  When I got into my car yesterday it was covered in tree pollen.  Looks like this will be a bad year.  Too bad for me, I'm allergic to benadryl.

For those with pollen allergy, keep a close eye on the air filters in your air conditioning units.  The filter gets all clogged with pollen and the AC unit just spews it into the house.  My HVAC guy warned me about this a few years back and now I vacuum the filter regularly.  It helps a lot!
