I had a jam last night and called the nurse. She had me use another redi-pen. She said they either work or they don't work. Since I couldn't get the plunger to plunge, I did not release any medication. I'm bringing it back to her to inspect. (Since I'm on a clinical trial she dispenses all my meds.)
Some shots i do with the "pen from hell' leave no red mark i i get no physical reaction...odds are you got the hit
Again, if the barrel was empty, it did all go in. The flu-like reaction is supposed to be worse the first 2-3 weeks but normally goes away. It can resurface for no good reason later in treatment. I never reacted to the shots at all and I'm guessing that it has just taken you 9 weeks to manage not to react. It's fine, don't worry.
If the redi-pen jams it really jams. This happened with my very first pen.and the barrel would not pull out at all. You will know if it jams. The pen will be unuseable.
I got those most of the time too. But not always. Looks like you took a direct hit by a pitched baseball. The skin in the area gets all red and scaly. You are able to rotate target areas on the thigh and abdomen. Wearing shorts is a little revealing sometimes. But what the heck, consider the bruises as badges of honor. Hang in there.
When I say "reactions" I mean physical reaction to the shot. I get a large bright red burning and itching area about 3" to 4" in diameter at the injection site that becomes evident about four days later. This hasn't happened this week yet. That's what has me wondering.
As long as the barrell was empty after the injection you're ok. It's smart to expect side effects from the Peg but you should feel ok that you feel ok. Anytime that you get a 'pass' on tougher sides is a week behind you and a week closer to being done. I found the redipen kind of cumbersome to handle. And, don't worry about a few dribbles around the base of the needle, they're expected. That's assuming the dribbles come from the redipen.
