I was diagnosed with undetectable Hep C 5 years ago. I am a  recovering alcoholic. Will I die from this even though I don't drink anymore? I am so scared. I think about it everyday.

I lost my dad almost 2 years ago from liver cirrhosis. He was not a big drinker. My grandma, 2 Aunts died from it. My uncle also was diagnosed with it this year, so talk about fear. My sister and I are a bit nervous that it could be genetic. I have spoke with a specialist that said his type was fatty tissue that turned into cirrhosis over years time. And its all about taking care of your body as best as you can. I'm still scared as I just turned 40 and my youngest child just turned one. My dad died when I was pregnant. :(
If I can give you any words of encouragement, have faith, and believe, GOD heals all things. Take good care of your body. The heart, the liver, can regenerate themselves, making them healthy.
Take care! :) And think positive

welcome to this forum. many of us have been where u are. first it would be best to supply us with more information which you may need to talk to a specialist to discern. please tell us if you had a biopsy the results. this determines essentially how progressed your disease is. usually u will be given some numbers. undetectable is good but not a clear and thorough diagnosis. how long do u expect u have had this? what is your age?do u know the genotype u have. those answers would help us help u. try not to freak out. this disease is rarely so time sensitive that u have to move very fast and the treatments are improving as we speak. read all u can tolerate with out scaring u to death. there is alot of info on this here and elsewhere. please let us know. best, babs824
ps dont drink no matter what!
