thx for the clarification. sorry to make a confusing issue more muddy, babs
OH PS These PIs were just coming into testing phase back in 2005, that is most likely why you never heard of them - you needed to go to a real heptologist at that point as they were not commonly known.
Mary4now is on a trial med and has cleared since week 2. You should look at that.
There are a lot of different trials going on right now that people here are in. You probably could have had a chance to get into a trial however many of the folks in here worked very hard to get in - and there is a great risk when you do because you don't know if you are getting the trial med, what the sides will be, etc. etc. Plus some doctors dont even know about the new medications and just think that the old SOC is what you do. You'd be surprised at how little knowledge about HcV some have, this is why you want to make sure you are treating with a fully qualified heptologist or a doc with a thriving HCV practice.
Once Boceprevir and Telaprevir are approved by the FDA, which should be shortly we hope, then you can go to the doctor and ask for it. Until then the only way was trials....
Boceprevir has not been approved yet. The committee voted to endorse the application but there is no final approval yet. Same with Telaprevir. A lot of people had good results in trials.
the new meds were only approved weeks ago. u are unlikely to get much reliable feedback except from those who were on trials. good luck
Maybe I am reading this forum wrong, was that just people commenting from the preliminary trials on the Boceprevir????
