There are percentages of those with hep c to clear the virus. Genotype 1 is harder to clear and the treatment is 48 months. But many do clear it. It is easier to clear genotypes 2 and 3 and the treatment period is shorter at 24 months. Many consider themselves cured if after treatment the amount of virus in your body is so low it cannot be detected. You still have hep c but are not likely to spread it after clearing and it is no longer damaging your liver. Also once clearing you should not get the virus back unless you contact the virus again.  There are side effects with the treatment and they vary with each individual and genotype. Some have problems from treatment even after they clear the virus. It is my understanding it affects a health issue you may already have. Example: A friend said it didn’t cause the arthritis but it did get worse after treatment.

I hope this chart shows on the site. I can’t remember all the percentages. The percentages will vary a bit with different studies but his one looks pretty average to what I have read about percentage and treatment. I will type it up if the chart doesn’t send right.

I can not say much about feeling pain and how long without knowing your symptoms or genotype. Hope this helps answer some things for you.
