.97 equivocal result

About February 2017 i had unprotected sex and in jun 2017 i got tested for hsv1 and 2 . Hsv1 was negative but my hsv2 igg was equivocal at .97. I havent been tested since with no outbreaks. The quest diagnostics  representative on the phone in June of last year stated the resason for the .97 at the time could have been anything including what i ate the morning of the test. I just recently got tested for hiv, syphilis,  hep c and other stds. all negative but the dr. Did not test me for herpes. Im a little worried about the .97. Any advice?

What you ate for breakfast or any meds you are on (minus antivirals) or if you have a cold or not WOULD NOT impact testing. That’s ridiculous. You are in the equivocal range and more than likely a false positive if you hadn’t had Alex at least 12 weeks before the tear. A confirmation test would be the next step. The best you can get is the Western Blot from the University of Washington but you should get another IgG first and see what it says. If below 3.5, get a confirmation test.

.97 means they couldn't tell either way, but it doesn't have anything to do with what you ate. Just get another test done and put your mind at ease. Chances are good it will be negative, but at least find out.

Thank you. May I ask why the chances are good it would be negative, even after 3 weeks of possible exposure?
