Am i newly infected?

I am a 28 yr old healthy male that did not have any sexual activity for 2 years.  On July 7th I engaged in oral sex with a female friend that I have known for years.  On July 10th my vermilion border of my lips started to have very slight swelling and they burn/tingle/get cold feeling.  It is now July 15th and have the same symptoms.  Been using blistex and aquaphor on my lips but has not helped.  I decided to go to an urgent care today.  the doctor said it could be an allergy to some lipstick or balm.  told him my history.  basically told me to use a steroid cream for a week.  if it helps then thats the problem.  if you break out in to vesicles, then we can start a viral medication.  Am i still in the incubation period of herpes? Should I have broken out into vesicles by now after being swollen and sensations for 10 days? Has anyone experienced anything like this personally? Am i over analyzing?

Hi, from what your describing, are you having an oral herpes outbreak? No it does not appear you are. Even if she does have hsv2 genital, contracting it oral is not common as prefers the genital ganglion. Have a test in 3 months if your concerned
