Back with worries

Sorry  to keep beating a dead horse but I'm still convinced I acquired hsv 2.  I have seen grace state that men usually don't get discharge with herpes and fleetwood, I thank you for all you've helped me with, you have said that most men do not get burning urination. I've had both and the discharge was present even after taking antibiotics which furthermore proves a viral infection. Along with my pretty constant pain in the groin and legs (achy pain) again proves a viral infection, however I'm negative at 12 weeks. Grace also states the capita test needs 4 months to be conclusive not 3 and I've also read with a long standing hsv 1 infection like I have that it could take up to 6 months to be positive.

If most men don't get discharge or burning with urination why do all the sites say these are symptoms. Dr. HHH has said if you have a burning penis without sores it's highly unlikely to be hsv 2. When I get oral hsv 1 outbreaks I experience itching, burning, then the sores show up. Again I expect hsv 2 would play out the same but I've read my hsv 1 could cause me not to have significant sores and possibly just cuts or slits in the skin. I've had one or two cuts but not until over like 8 weeks after possible exposure. Those should have shown up with all my other symptoms earlier in this ridiculous fiasco.

I've had every single symptoms listed for hsv 2
Burning urination- yes
Frequency to go pee- yes
Flu like symptoms- yes ( I threw up, stomach upset to the max)
Abdominal pressure-yes
Groin pain- yes
Leg pain- yes
Discharge- yes ( even after takin zithromax and doxy) has to be viral

Burning genitals- yes
Blisters and sores- no-- but like I've said I had a cut, maybe from masterbation or the dry skin. Also according to this site and other my long standing hsv 1 infection can help those not occur AND many people don't get them.

I however have not had any symptoms since about 7 or 8 weeks after except groin and leg aches. I've had one equivocal igm test and one positive. Equivocal at 6 weeks and positive at 11 weeks. Doctor told me I was recently infected and to tell future partners I have hsv 2. Meanwhile, my igg test was negative at 6 weeks and negative at 12 weeks.

With the symptoms I noted above I cannot drop hsv 2 no matter how hard I try. For a few days I was stoked about the igg being negative at 12 weeks but with my ongoing leg and groin aches I don't know what to think. Again I'm back to these boards with questions.
I hate to be so obnoxious about this! The posters here have given me nothing but good feedback and I thank you so much for it. Can anyone elaborate again on what those symptoms were all about, possibly an adenovirus? Or more obviously hsv 2?

Without lesions it likely isn't herpes. I had some ridiculous and scary symptoms and I turned up negative on the best test available. I didn't believe anything anyone said bc the symptoms were so real but come to find out they were right and it must have been something else.
Rest easy and read my story. I went crazy for 5 months and it's not worth it
Good luck! Fingers are crossed

Brokenbow, many thanks for your response. I haven't had any tests yet as the encounter was just one month ago. Maybe I should, but my sense was that tests that early for HSV would not be revealing? I don't know what to make of the burning/pain/irritation in the groin area. One thought I've had recently is that I'm applying too much soap to the area out of anxiety. But it does feel real as I've applied ointment.

Thanks bigtime! But the test was done 18 weeks after the exposure and it did pick up my hsv 1. But as I said the hsv 2 was negative.

I won't be back here for awhile I'm sure so keep on keepin on brother, and thanks for all your help.

Worry_ anxiety,
From my experience I believe when we worry so much about something we feel more than what is really there. But believe me, I know the symptoms were real for me and I'm sure they are real for you too but thinking constantly about it will make it worse. Hsv is tricky and the wait for test results can be quite nerve wracking but at least you get answers.
Have you taken a blood test yet?

Congrats Broken! When was the WB taken? How far from exposure? By the way, did it pick up your HSV1 infection?

Happy for you man. Don't want to see you on here again. You're clear. Done with.

First of all, let me say that I'm genuinely happy for you. That's great news! But I also wanted to ask a question...you mention in your posts feeling burning and aches in the groin and genital area. I've been really worried that I caught HSV 2, and although I've not had any blisters, I have had irritation, aches, burning in the groin and genital area. I think about it all the time. It feels real to me. In retrospect, do you have any thoughts on this kind of experience?

You have literally calmed me down. I'm just nervous awaiting this test but I know I need to just let it go. Swab is the best test out there. My blood has been negative. And I am happy at this moment i just think the anxiety is getting to me a little bit and had read some posts where it has been said cultures have that high false negative rate but mine were swabbed quickly especially the ones on my penis.
Thanks for the words bigtime I'll post once again when these results come back from the WB. Happy you're moving on!

Kudos broken for getting those sores swabbed. They weren't herpes bro. Don't stress. Negative swab, you did your due diligence and they are not herpes. I have done the same and that's how I view it! Good job.

Cultures have a high negative tendency because either people wait too long to get a sore swabbed (sore is healing or healed), not enough virus was captured in the sample, or miss handling of the swab prior to arrival to the lab. I would NOT stress any of the above.

I had no open sore or fluid with my lesions but if it was herpes a simple swab over the top would capture the virus. Cultures are sensitive. I have spoken to many HSV positive individuals who stated they had similar lesions swabbed right over the top come back positive via culture. If the lesions were herpes, it would show.

Sounds like you are following in my exact footsteps. My westernblot came back negative at 5 months and my symptoms (pray it stays this way) have gone completely away. I'm thinking because my anxiety is gone. I accepted what is medically available that states I do not have herpes regardless of my symptoms.

I highly suspect your WB will be negative. Like myself, I hope you rest easy knowing you took the best herpes blood test available and it stated you were negative. Move on. I have. No more testing for me.

Even my 6 month ELISA came back with antibody counts lower than ever. I'm done. Accept the WB as true Broken. If you don't, I suggest counseling. Dead serious.

Im jut wondering why alot of posts ive read say cultures have a high false negative rate. Mine were done barely over 24 hours and perhaps not even that long so im confused as to how swabs can have a high rate of negatives being that it is the best way to diagnose hsv 2 in a person. Anybody want to shed some light on that for me i would appreciate it

Just an update my cultures were negative and I should be getting the results from the western blot sometime next week. The negative cultures have helped me settle down and if this western blot comes back negative I will be done with this thing that has become an obsession. I'll post as soon as I get the results.

Trust me man if this all comes back the way I want it to I'm definitely done. I'm obsessed and definitely admitting that but who wouldn't be you know. So many times I've been happy especially when the blood has come back negative but somehow I always find my way back to these boards.

I will let you know the results most definitely bc my situation can help a lot of people. Let's pray I stay negative like you brother and can get passed this. I appreciate all your help man it's given me hope.

We'll be in touch. Time for you to move on but please do me a favor and check back on this board to see my results. Take care man

Your lesions do not sound herpetic. Wait it out and get the results. Negative, then relax if they arise again moving forward.

You're taking a Western Blot right? If and when that's negative, you need to move on. This coming from a herpes obsessed dude. I now, just recently, finally accept my results. You must do the same. You must or I would seek counseling. I was at a certain point. I'm done. Done.

They never blistered and I had some on my thigh that were swabbed and one on my penis at this time that was also swabbed, but I felt the one on my penis after masterbation so that's what I want to contribute it to. Then again last night I masterbated and another one on my penis showed up, thinking again it could just be from pleasuring myself. And again another one showed up today after masterbating. So today I had her swab them all. Praying they come back negative like yours did. They only irritated me when moving around a certain way at work.

Btw I have this cut on my finger that is on the hand I use to masterbated which is rough and could most likely cause lesions like this and like I said these all showed up literally right then I got done doing my thing. I want to believe its from the pleasure but herpes is my nightmare right now.

She didn't say what they looked like she just said were gonna swab them and find out. The thing that scares me is that sores can show up later which is why I'm sure you were nervous as well. But these only showed up on my penis after masterbation and she said that could be likely. But trust me I didn't miss any lesions earlier in this whole situation and I've had lesions like this from masterbation so I want to think that's what it is but with my herpes obsession I'm not too confident.

Going to have to sit tight and wait.

Broken, describe the lesions one more time. They are on your thigh or penis? What did you doctor state they look like?

Typically, a primary outbreak occurs within 2-21 days from exposure. However, with a current HSV1 infection, symptoms can be mild or delayed regarding an outbreak.

Swabbing was the right thing to do. Smart move. I'd trust the blood at the moment Broken.

I know we are in different time drama regarding our own exposures, but I swabbed 3 fresh pimple like lesions on my shaft an the results came in today. Negative! So negative swabs and negative blood 6 months out..we had a few similar symptoms and I'm HSV free at the moment.

Good luck. Just sit tight and wait for the culture to come back. Mine took 7 days.

The dr who swabbed me gave me doxy but I took it before as well but she said I needed a longer dosing so I'm on it for ten days. But these lesions are scaring the poop outta me

Another question is it possible to have my first outbreak 18 weeks after the exposure? I have four lesions on my penis which I have had swabbed and won't know for a couple days. These are the only lesions I've had since the exposure.
I have masterbated and have a cut on my finger and the first two came up after that then today I did it again and the other two came up. Could a cut on my finger make a cut on my penis as well? I'm hoping to god it's possible and that my swabs come back negative but as of right now I believe these to be hsv 2 lesions

Any ideas?

From what doctors tell me, penile discharge is NOT common with herpes. I had both penile and anal discharge in the beginning my symptoms. Doctor prescribe doxycycline at the time and it cleared it up. I'm assuming it was bacterial based.

Herpes and discharge in men don't go together. I guess it can happen, but the odds are in your favor.

I think you have some bacterial thing going on. You need to see a Urologist and have them prescribe doxycycline. If that doesn't work, I'd be concerned.

I'm just sharing what happened to me and what my doc advised.

Bigtime do you know if this were to be an outbreak, would a recurrent outbreak produce penile discharge? I took a shower and had some clear discharge upon getting out as well as I noticed it after to went to the bathroom. I know rarely men get discharge but I'm fairly sure I'm one of the rare ones.

I'm still waiting on cultures as well Broken and my Western Blot was negative.

Try and rest easy. Wait it out man. You're negative. Stop letting this ruin your life. It's a terrible obsession. I know because I can relate.

Once my swab comes in I'm moving on forever.

They did not look like what i get on my lips but ive been told they can occur anywhere in the boxer region including on thighs so i got them checked out just to be sure.

I hate this whole situation im in and just want to be over it and hopefully in a few weeks when i get my WB back i can drop it but that will only be the case if the cultures are negative too

If they were scattered in the locations you describe, then there is no way they are HSV 1/2. What did they think they were?

Although HSV varies in appearance you know how they appear on you and this isn't what it is, right?

For your own health, you need to stop this obsession.

Three on one thigh, one on the other and two up by my hip but they are so far apart. White heads on some and the white puss came out of them

I work all day so i cant get in to get then swabbed although trust me i would love to and i need to so i dont have to play the guessing game.

They look just like sweat pimples but i know hsv can look like anything but they do not look like the cold sores i get on my lips

Without swabbing them you are just playing a guessing game and nobody here will diagnose your lesions with any certainty.

However, a doctor and a swab can. You must do this or risk not knowing what they are. I swab anything and everything may resemble herpes on my genitals. I want no doubt.
