Bleeding and herpes?

Since finding out I've contracted Herpes the area around my vagina has been swollen and I've also had a lot of bleeding which has been like a heavy period and lasted well over a week, nearly 2. I took Valtrex which stopped the bleeding so I assumed it was related to Herpes. But I have just finished a course of Valtrex and am bleeding again. At first I assumed it was my period but it's been heavy bleeding for a good few days now. I am also very itchy.

I'm just so confused, is this herpes? If so why didn't the Valtrex clear up? I really hate not knowing enough about this virus, the doctor was pretty useless with regards to information.

How were you diagnosed?
Bleeding like you describe is not associated with genital hsv. The swollen area could be. I would see your gynecologist.

Hi, thanks for the reply. A doctor did swabs on the sores and sent them to the lab and diagnosed me that way. I had a look on google and found a condition called cervicitis which is inflammation of the cervix and bleeding, usually caused by STI's. I'm hoping this is what it is but just feeling a bit worried.

Was it hsv1 or hsv2 that came back positive?
