Blood & Urine Test for STDs

In Nov 2011, I had tested positive for Gonorrhea and with antibotics, I cleared up. I tested again 3 months later and was clean. I started to take safe sex more seriously.

In Nov 2012, I started to get small sores on my body and scalp. I went to a dermatologist, which they determined my skin irritation to be Guttate Psoriasis. Applied a steroid creme and amoxicillin and it went away (except for my scalp).

Dec 2013 - Present
Once in awhile i would get a small rash at the tip of my penis, but would go away after 3-4 days with the help of antibotic ointment and some basic anti-fungal creme (I think I had a minor case of balantis from hygene and excessive masturbation causing irritation to the skin).

Sept 2013 - I started taking Vyvanse for my ADHD. It is a controlled substance.

Last month (2013), I was approached by a girl of interest who recently got out of an 8 year relationship. She immediately said, before we have sex, that we both get tested. I went to sexualhealth.com and got tested for pretty much all STD's.  Since my last negative experience, I have had 5 partners. over the course of two years and months before there was overlap.

I received my test results (blood and urine).
HSV 1 IgG, Type Spec 3.59 High
HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec 1.02 High (equivocal)

HBsAg, Hep C, RPR, HIV 1/0/2 Abs-ICMA, Index, Qual, Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae all were NEGATIVE
- I have the entire LabCorp PDF lab, but didn't want to fill the entire thing in the inbox.

THE HSV2, equivocal concerns me. I have scheduled a meeting to go over my labs with my PCP this thursday (1/9), but noticing in some of your commented threads, that some primary care aren't educated well with herpes.

Also, is there ANY link of psoriasis with HSV 1 or 2?  Trying not to over think things. I know that I am suppose to test again in 6 weeks. When I test again in 6 weeks, should I ask for a more specific test? If you need my full labs, i can e-mail them

There isn't a link with psoriasis and herpes, no.
Your HSV 2 result may well be a result of a positive HSV 1 test.  You don't mention when your last sexual contact happened.  If it was four months ago or longer, I doubt that your HSV 2 test is positive.  When was your last sexual contact, prior to taking the test?

Thank you Terri. This helps prepare me for my visits with the PCP. If symptoms arise, then ask for a PCR swab test.

Since your last contact was so very recent, the test cannot be considered useful at this time.

A skin biopsy is not the way to get diagnosed with herpes.  If you do have a lesion of some kind, get a PCR swab test, not a biopsy.

There are no additional tests that you need prior to retesting unless you get some kind of skin lesion.  Six weeks is too soon for an accurate result.  The result you get a six weeks will may be accurate, with a 70% chance of accuracy.

I don't think you need other testing.

I took the test on 12/31. My last sexual encounter was on 12/15, with the same partner for 3 months. Prior to that, I had a two month break between my previous partner. The reason I took this test was because I was asked by my new girl of interest (we still have not had sex yet).

I know that symptoms can be absent in HSV2 cases. Should my questions for my PCP be,

1. If I have no signs or symptoms, is a skin biopsy still needed?
2. Are there additional tests needed prior to retesting to 6 weeks?
3. Are there additional non-STD blood test I should consider taking?

I forgot to mention in May, the only other blood test I took was my cholesterol levels, my LDL's were high and I was told to lay off the carbs. I also have a high sugar intake, which I have made adjustments to as well.
