COLD SORES?

I have become very confused lately, I am 24 years old a mother of three and I HAVE NEVER HAD A COLD SORE IN MY LIFE...till now.. My boyfriend and I have been together almost 3years and one of my kids is his... so those who have had kids know that you get tested for herpes and all that other non fun stuff... and I have never had a positive test. My boyfriend doesn't get cold sores. Why is this happening to me now? Is he messing around and got something? Or have I always had it? But if I've always had it wouldn't I have had a positive result in the past

Please, I need some sort of clarity

Many children have hsv1 oral from sharing dribbling toys at daycare. But the kiss from last night would not be the cause. Takes about 3 days post exposure for a sore to develop.
Also on a side note. If this is oral hsv1, it not common to contract it at your age from kissing your b/f or children as your immune system is strong. Those that most often contract oral hsv1 are in fact young children. If this is oral hsv1, i would appear youve had it for quite some time. Considering everything youve wrote and life style. it would appear its not a herpes sore but do let us know your test result.

To contract herpes for adults there needs to be direct skin rubbing contact to force the virus into the nerve. Both you and your boyfriend need to be tested.

You mentioned the toys, and it has hit me that my youngest (1year) refuses to take his fingers out  from his mouth and is constantly trying (and sometimes/most of the time)succeeding in putting objects in his mouth from home to when we are out anywhere or visiting somewhere... could he possibly be my source?

I am planning on making an appointment since I am freaking out! But on your side note,  I kiss my children all the time, and yesterday I was kissing my younger siblings (obviously not in a gross way) but they are ages 7-5 ... then last night I got the cold sores.. how would kissing children cause this? I know the question seems silly, but I have never gone through this

Hi, if youve tested negative and your b/f has tested negative then this would not be and outbreak. It just doesnot appear out of know where. I would suggest that he tests to confirm his status and if hes positive, most likely hes always had it from childhood. This would be the starting point, him being tested. If you could see a doc within 48 hours after the sore appearing and have it swabbed, would be to your advantage. Also have another blood test now and one in 8 weeks.
On a side note, if this is oral hsv1, you might have gotton it from kissing the children.
