Can I get the virus through protected sex?

I’ve been dating my girlfriend for about 4 months. I want to be I intimate with her but there is this fear in the back of mind that I will obtain the virus, which prevents me from being intimate with her. She has hsv2 and hasn’t had a break out since she was first diagnosed 2-3 years ago. She does not take medication. My fear is, if my scrotum touches her mucous membrane, can I obtain the virus if there are no outbreaks though protected sex?

like the Jaimeortiz mention the  odds of getting herpes. Though it is low, it is still possible to get herpes through protected sex (using condoms). I was trying to be careful with using a condom even it was 1 time with my partner, but still ended up getting herpes.

Yearly Transmission rates from female to male in couples who have unprotected sex two times a week and avoid sex during outbreaks  is 4%  add a condom and that is reduced to 2% add antiviral medication and that is reduced to 1%
