Can this be herpes? Or can it be a yeast infection?

So I went to the doctor yesterday (13 April) about a sore throat I've been experiencing almost a week now. It didn't look infected but just made me really uncomfortable. So she begins asking me questions and one was if I had oral sex in the past week and I told her yes, so she asked other questions and arrived at if I had any sores or what ever anywhere else. So I told her I noticed a bruise right under my vagina area (but I assumed it was cause I was still sore from having sex basically everyday the week before) and the soreness was slightly increasing (I also assumed its cause I washed myself a little to hard from a a body glove I use to bathe with) so she said she can examine me and when she did she said there's a 90% possibility it could be herpes because of the appearance ( a singular circle shaped sore) and the fact that it was still so raw but she doubted it being herpes because there was only one. Never the less she prescribed me with acyclovir to take 2 tabs 3 times daily, do a salt gargle rinse and to soak myself in a salt water bath for the sore which I began immediately. The sore throat went away in no time. When I woke up this morning I found that the bruise under my vagina went away but now a cluster of bumps/blisters have taken its place and now it's uncomfortable to move about I'm noticing a white/creamish discharge and now there's a faint odour. Did a little research and these symptoms can be herpes or a yeast infection (because of now discharge and odour). I informed my partner who is still kind of new (our first sexual encounter being almost a month followed by a week of sex last week) what was going on and I asked him if he ever had anything before but he told me last year he had a break out but the doctor told him it was from a yeast infection and gave him some meds/creams and it cleared right up. He told me he got it from the girl he was with at the time because the doctor also told her it was a yeast infection.
So what can really be going on here? Yeast infection? (Please God let it be this). Or is the herpes? I can't take a blood test as yet to confirm so it's just speculation from here

You both need to have an igg bloodtest for hsv1 and hsv2. This is the first step. If he tests positive then the chances are greater that you may have been infected. Although if you contracted genital hsv sore throat rwally is not a symptom. The flu l8ke symptoms are fever, swollen groin lymph nodes and body aches. This is usually pretty severe and painful
