Chances of having HSV 1

Okay, so Friday night I was hanging out with some friends and I had a drink one of my guy friends asked to taste it and I let him. I’m very cautious about my health and tend to freak out about stds abs stuff. I don’t have any symptoms of anything but can someone tell me what are the chances of me having HSV 1 after i let him have a sip of my drink (in a can) he didn’t have any active cold sores and i’m not even saying that he has hsv 1 but a lot of people have it and don’t know. I’m kinda scared because i’ve read online that you can get hsv 1 from saliva and sharing a drink. someone please help, thanks! And today (3 days later) my body is kind of sore and my jaws hurt like TMJ pain just thought i’d throw that in there.

I agree with GuitarRox - yes, in theory you could get it this way, but in the absence of a cold sore, it's not that likely.

However, you could easily get a cold, strep, the flu, etc., this way, and it's the season for it, so let people get their own drinks from now on. :)

Oral herpes or herpes simplex one is extremely common and a huge percentage of the population has it.  Young kids have it.  It's pretty straight forward . . . cold sores.  Some people get tingling before an outbreak.  But the jaw hurting and all of that is not herpes. Can you get herpes from sharing a drink?  Theoretically and occasionally but I would not be overly worried about this.
