Cold Sore/HSV-1 and Lipstick

Any chance of picking up HSV-1/oral herpes from lipstick use at make-up counter? I didn't see make-up sales person clean the lipstick prior to applying with a clean applicator. I realize now people run up to the counter and may be applying to their lips without cleaning.

if you use them on the back of your hand, I'd be sure to go and wash your hands with soap and water after you were done testing.

Is it safe to even test those things out on the back of the hand?

Was I pretty much not at risk for herpes but could end up with a bacterial infection?

personally I'd never, ever use those make ups on the counter. herpes would be the LEAST of my worries from using them.
