hsv1 anyone?

5 days ago I had my first cold sore outbreak, it's almost gone now but my only main concern is passing it on to my partner through oral and giving them genital herpes. I'm beyond paranoid about this and I'm wondering if anyone has had oral hsv1 and given oral without their partner getting infected, also how long did you wait to give oral?

Most likely you have had oral HSV1 for a long time if you have it. What test confirmed the presence of HSV1?

Well hes never showed symptoms, but say I got it from oral after giving it the first time, do you think it would appear as fast on my lip if it was genital herpes?

This is an issue that 60% of women face (and men for that matter) in giving oral sex to their partner.

It is best to wait until the sore has completely healed in the sense of it not having a scab and normal dry skin is present, being a little different in color is OK.

For many couples this isn't a problem as both have HSV1 meaning reinfection is extremely difficult.

You indicate you may have just been infected. Was this from your partner? If so you're both quite safe once your infection becomes established, 3 to 6 months, your genital region being the area most at risk from your partner.
