Did I transmit herpes if I possibly had an outbreak two days after protected sex?

I’ve had herpes for 17 years and take Valtrex daily for suppressive therapy. I had protected heterosexual vaginal sex on Sunday afternoon. I noticed some slight tenderness in my genital area on Tuesday and today when wiping myself, it was uncomfortable. I tried to determine if the discomfort was an outbreak, ingrown hair (had a Brazilian wax a few weeks ago), pimple, etc and I can’t really tell. I’m nervous now because I don’t recall feeling the discomfort on Sunday and am uncertain of the cause of the discomfort. I am always careful and use protection every time I have sex but the almost immediate discomfort is making me really nervous. Is my partner ok?

Most likely your partner is fine. So many things cause irritation for us as women, and if you weren't feeling anything on Sunday, I'm sure it's fine.

If you aren't having an outbreak now, it's unlikely that this is an outbreak, and could be chafing from uncomfortable underwear, a yeast infection, even irritation from hair growing back in from the Brazilian.

I understand your concern, but the chances of your partner getting anything from you are very, very slim if you are on suppression and use condoms.
