Could I have contracted?

A while back I had sex with a woman for the first time, and just found out she has herpes. it was a long time ago and for the past two years, i've been with another. I fear i may have contracted herpes, though i show no sign. reading on the internet, it says sometimes there is no sign. On top of this fear, what is the chance of me spreading it to my girlfriend? we haven't had sex, but we have kissed. SO may questions are what are the chances i did contract herpes (i used  condom and i dont believe she was having an outbreak of it) and. more importantly, what are the chances of spreading it to my companion sometime these past two years? I would be very thankful for any help in this matter.

you should be talking to all potential partners about their std history and when they were last tested for std's and for what. also talk about condom use and birth control. it's something we all should be doing so that we don't get so many surprises later!  you also want to be asking your partners if they've had gardasil shots if they are under 30.

Thank you, I'll be able to sleep at night. this weekend, i'm going to a clinic to get checked. I haven't considered talking to her about it, but after this, it is certainly something we're gonna talk about. Thank you again.

the risk of contracting herpes from a one time protectd encounter is incredibly low. if you need the peace of mind, by all means get a type specific herpes igg blood test to see what your status is.

have you talked to your new gf about std's and testing?
