Could it be herpes

Hi I had protected vaginal sex with a csw 3 weeks ago..2-3 days later I started feeling fluey with raised lymphs in my neck, armpits and groin...I have kept a close eye on genital region and have not had any kind of itch, rash or lesions..my question is would it be possible to have the flu like symptoms of herpes without having lesion outbreaks...the flue and lymph symptoms are still going on and I'm getting stressed now...thanks

Well 26 days from possible exposure and I have developed 2 small spots on penis head, not itchy not sore...I suspected herpes right from the start of my flu symptoms but without spots/lesions couldn't be sure...now it doesn't look good for me...either my condom failed in some way despite not splitting or when I took condom off virus must have been on my hands and when I showered must have rubbed it on my penis head...am I just unlucky or paranoid? Thanks

Primary outbreaks can vary greatly. Yes, some people get no symptoms at all or they get such a mild outbreak they pass it off as something else.
As far as your situation you need to look at the facts. Your flu symptoms are not herpes related. This would've had very noticable lesions. Herpes absolutely does not present with flu like symptoms only. Combine that with your safe exposure and you get no realistic chance of hsv. The new studies show condoms for any single exposure are about 95% effective. Now lets say you had unprotected swx and she has hsv2. Then your odds are roughly one in a 1000. Add 95% effective to that 1 in a 1000 and the odds are clearly in your favor.
In all my time doing this I have never had anyone contract hsv from a single protected encounter with anyone. That includes sex workers.

No, hsv when flu like symptoms acompany a primary outbreak it is lesions that start to form first then flu like symptoms. I surely do not suspect hsv at all.

Thanks...this is what I would like to think but there is so much conflicting info on the net, some say that some people do not get any symptoms at all..it is all rather patchy....would it be fair to say that if you get symptoms, you will get all the classic ones and if you do not have all the classic symptoms you will get none at all?
