Did I get HSV2? Please please answer Dr.HHH

I was in a relationship July 2019 with a guy that I found out during the course of our relationship had HSV2. Well one day we had unprotected sex but he didn’t tell me he had 2 small bumps on his shaft.I found out he had the bumps after we had the sex and refused to do it again until he was tested. We went to the doctor 3 days later and they swabbed the bumps but st that time they were already starting to heal. The results came back for being positive for HSV2 so we followed it up with a IGg IGm test and both were positive. I went off to medical school that August so we didn’t see each like we use to accept for once every month while I was in school. When we saw each other we had protected sex one time each month until we broke up Dec2019.
I really haven’t had any bumps but I’m very prone to folliculitis . Also I forgot to mention that in April 2029 I tested negative for HSV2 so it was right before I met him and got into a relationship with him. While I was in medical school I had a cut on my perineum  that only hurt when I would touch it . Since then I have been to the doctors to be seen and they have told me that I don’t have any lesions and that I’m fine. The doctors would tell me that I didn’t have herpes just by looking at my genitals but never tested me. What are my chances that I have HSV2? Also I want to point out that me and my ex probably had sex maybe 10-15 times before we broke up in December 2019.

Unfortunately, Dr. HHH isn't associated with our site any longer - no doctors are. So, you get me. :)

There's no way we can put odds on your chances of having it, and the only way you'll know is to get an IgG blood test. It's a possibility, but it's certainly not definite.

If you can't get into your doctor right now, you can get a test through STDCheck - https://www.stdcheck.com/ If you aren't in the US, let me know, and I can give you resources for another country.

Let me know what happens.

Thank you so much for responding. I’m going to a doctor today at 7 am because I have a pinkish lump with white pus in the middle on my perineum. I am going to have the doctor look at it and then swab it. Will a swab be okay?
Yes, if they can do a PCR swab, that's better than a regular swab. If they can only do a regular swab, that's okay. See if they can do a type specific swab on it.

It may not be herpes. Herpes isn't usually lumps with pus - that sounds like a clogged oil gland or hair follicle.

Thank u so much!! I will definitely let you know.
How'd it go at the doc's?
