Does this sound like herpes?

Ok so like many others on here I made a huge mistake! I’m a male, in my 40’s in a long time marriage, four months ago I had unprotected sex with a female coworker (oral and vaginal). 2 days later started getting a sore throat, that progressed into what I thought was full blown strep, within a week got small blisters on inside of lip, freaked out! Herpes!? Went to urgent care got penicillin for throat, nurse said blisters were nothing, within another week had dark frequent urine, penis started to burn, went to std (2weeks)clinic got tested for all except Herpes, all negative. Symptoms have since progressed to constant burning penis red irritated Testicles, burning feet, nerve pain in hands and feet sunburn like redness on neck and face sometimes burning itchy anus-butt, still irritated throat, tingling gums with white spots, a few little sore will pop up in mouth but go away in a couple days, looks like fordyce bumps on lips-have been there four months, oral thrush, extreme fatigue.never any cold sores or open sores on groin. Have been to GP, natreopathic, urologist, all say I’m fine, got tested again at 3 months hiv,Herpes, chlamydia, ghonarrea, syphlis. All negative. Have also lost over 20 lbs and constipated constantly,Also GP put me on bactrim 30 days for trace bacteria in urine and natreo dr.on diflucan for Candida, no change, have severe stress and anxiety which I’m sure factors in.Still not so sure isn’t Herpes? Sounds like others here have had same symptoms tested positive. Any help appreciated.

Guys please try to relax and stay off the internet. Not everything is herpes and by reading every little symptom online your gonna convince yourself you have it. I thought I did for over a year. Never once did I see a blister. I asked friends who have it about all my symptoms and they all laughed saying yeah mine doesn’t do that. Convinced my doctor for valtrex which did absolutely nothing. Was put on cipro for a possible prostate infection and that actually seemed to help so doctor thought it must be bacterial. However got vitamins levels checked and I was real low on vitamin d and c. Started taking them every day and guess what all my problems went away. Not everything is herpes and there are people with herpes who want to convince others online that they also have it.  Not everyone, but few.

So I tested negative for both types 3 months. 6 months, 13 months and had western blot negative. Any pimple I got on my leg or buttock-swabbed by pcr, but everytime every doctor was like that’s not it . I assumed it was herpes because I went online and read symptoms. It was horrible. I took valtrex nothing. Olive leaf nothing. Monolaurin nothing. One day I realized this isn’t herpes. Also I have urine retention issues that led to possible prostatitis, but took cipro for 2 days and literally every issue I had on going completely disappeared. But I got sick on the medicine and 3 days later everything came back. I have buttock leg pain when I sit. Vitamins have be improving everything. I’m not saying that’s what you will work for u because everyone is different and not everyone was vitamin deficient like I was.
Thanks for your input, really am trying to stay positive and not over react and tact to every spot and symptom! I got a good supplement and vitamin regimen so hoping that helps.
Hi guys. I am glad to see this.. Makes me not feel alone.
I was tested low positive for HSV2 by 3 points. My old fashioned physician sat me down and told me how i should be using condoms and eat well and etc.. I broke down crying and crying and begging for this to be all a dream.

Days later, after visiting the clinic every single day for support.. There was another physician.

He went over my results was upset, as he wrote on a big peice of paper " YOU DO NORT HAVE AN STD " I was baffeled. He told me no testing for was even necessary .. This does not mean anything.

He mentioned and many articles mentioned how HIGHLY unreliable these tests are. Sexual health control organizations have prohibited herpes testing without symptoms due to how unclear it can be.

However.. I have had symptoms that probably by now i would gotten a lesion. I wake uo everyday expecting a lesion when a clinic staff told me not to and dismissed me with care.

The only reason that triggered me was having a rash on my vaginal area between buttocks and vagina with such equal and similar symmetrical way.

I put some rash ointment on it.. Everyday it got better.. However I have ALWAYS been STD anxious and OCD with it.

Gyno saw it and told me this is not herpes but a fungal issue and having a yeast infection.
Second physician vividly told me this isnt it.

I am too scared to get tested again.. EXTREMELY scared. Iam traumatized actually.. I am as young as 18 with a strict culture where even not being a virgin is a SHAME TO THE FAMILY. Imagine carrying an illness with it too? I would rather not know.. And if I ever decide to have sex again.. I'll be cautious.

What i am trying to say is.. And as the lady thay works in the clinic said.." It is all in my head, YOURE GOOD " after asking her " am i expecting a breakout am i gonna make anyone ill. "

I have had hamstring pains.. Irritated vagina and in general achy.
I felt the hamstring pain with a little burn before even considering testing but it was in the back of my sick obsessive mind that it could possibly yet low chance an std.

Plus. They have been long enough for me to have my initial breakout with such symptoms.

I am clashing and collapsing.. Please tell me this is all in my head.. Please.
Thank you.
What does "I was tested low positive for HSV2 by 3 points" mean? Do you have your results? Was it an IgG type specific test? Something else?

"rash on my vaginal area between buttocks and vagina with such equal and similar symmetrical way" - this does NOT sound like herpes. I can't say if you have herpes or not without knowing exactly what your test says, but this does not sound like herpes. I agree with your gyno that it sounds fungal (like yeast or something).

You break my heart with how hard you are on yourself. Your mind isn't sick. Maybe you do have OCD, but that is treatable and able to be managed. Even though you aren't a virgin, you're human. Would you say these things about your best friend? Would you say them about me - a total stranger? If not, you shouldn't say them about yourself.

Cultural norms are tough. It doesn't mean that they're right, and your sexual status is your own business. You are an adult human with normal adult needs and desires and curiosity. How you decide to explore them from here is your call, but please don't shame yourself.
Oh if you had an IgM test, totally disregard it. It is totally unreliable and shouldn't be done on adults. Mine was positive when it should have been negative, and negative when it should have been positive.
Ok Auntiejessi I am heading your advice and looking into other possibilities for my symptoms. You m going to contact urologist and see about running some more tests. Mycoplasma Genitalium is one thing that I see can have similar symptoms and be hard to detect. I have already taken Zithromax but hear it can be resistant to that? Thoughts?
That's a good start. Get tested for allergies, see a neurologist if you are still having the symptoms like burning feet, etc. Treat the anxiety, too. I'm not saying all of your symptoms are caused by anxiety - none of them may be, but you know it's an issue, so treat it and see if any of them are to give yourself a clearer picture of what's going on. Like if the weight loss and constipation are due to stress and anxiety, you'll treat that differently that if something else is causing that.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Have you had a prostate exam?
Yes, prostate was normal, and thank you for the advice

I don't have an answer for this question but just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. I was just at the doctor today myself and freaking out. :(
Some of (but only a few) of the same symptoms as you have because I'm female.

I only had a swab and no bloods done--I'm not sure why.

Any results for you? 1 year and 2 months and still not diagnosed but still fighting!
Our symptoms are damn near the same Nic and I can’t be diagnosed either.  All my problems started directlt after HSV2 exposure so I’m pretty sure herpes is the reason I’m all messed up now.  Sadly, I may never be clinically diagnosed, and may never know whether or not I have it until I end up infecting someone else.  I’m testing again next month at the 6 month mark when I go see the urologist.  Hopefully I’ll have a concrete answer by then, but I’m betting it’s all herpes related.
Seriously - after a year, after 6 months - if you don't test positive, you don't have herpes. There are many things that can cause symptoms like this, and herpes isn't one of them. Do yourself a favor and stop focusing on herpes. Exposure doesn't mean transmission, and test results override symptoms. Anal fissures, nerve disorders, prostatitis, etc - all cause symptoms you've described, or some of them. Herpes never causes systemic issues like you've described. You'd have either genital OR oral symptoms, not symptoms on your hands, feet, neck, back, etc. You are NOT describing herpes. It's physically impossible for herpes to cause those symptoms.

Herpes infects nerve groups. You would experience symptoms in the sacral ganglia nerve area - think boxer shorts - or the trigeminal neuralgia - mouth and nose area. That's it. It doesn't travel to your hands, feet, neck, etc.

Your symptoms are NOT HERPES. If you can't let it go, seek counseling. There are reasons for your symptoms, and you aren't helping yourself by focusing on herpes as the cause.
Auntijessi in my lifetime I’ve had sex with various women, none of whom ever told me they had genital herpes and to my knowledge didn’t.  I do not sleep with strippers or sex workers.  I was as healthy as a proverbial horse this summer when I met the first woman to tell me she has genital herpes.  I do some research, and in the end make probably the biggest mistake of my life because here I am now months later.  But let’s get to my point.

Now according to research, if she wasn’t having an outbreak (which she claims she wasn’t), and the fact that I’m a male and she’s a female, and the fact that we used protection, and the fact that it was only seconds that I was exposed unprotected when the condom broke after I entered her, the chances of me contracting herpes in that situation are extremely low.

Good to know.

Now assuming you are right, and I am wrong, and this isn’t herpes causing my sudden onset of problems, then there must be some other scientific known cause as to why a completely healthy man would suddenly be inflicted with these sudden problems all at once directly following his first known herpes expsoure.

Due to the fact that I barely moved my penis inside her before the condom broke and I pulled out, that eliminates the possibly of friction burn or any physical injury.

Within 2 days my penis head started tingling.  The tingle was constant and eventually progressed into a burning which has lasted to this day almost 6 months later.  I’ve gone very few days without feeling some type of burning in my penis since then.  That equates to very high chance of STD infection.  I Google search STDs that can have symptoms as soon as 2 days... the ONLY one I came across consistently was herpes.  THE ONLY ONE.

Now let’s assume it’s prostatitis like you say? Fair enough.  Maybe my prostate became infected.  Google search causes of prostatitis... viral infections are among them. Herpes can cause prostatitis.

Maybe it’s not herpes though causing this let’s assume.  Let’s assume maybe I just randomly have a faulty prostate coincidentally following sex with an HSV2 positive female.  Fine.

But how would that then explain the swollen armpit lymph node in my right armpit 3 days after my exposure?  This was very unsual for me at the time.  Prostatitis itself wouldn’t cause this.  Google searched it, already afraid I was infected due to my tingling penis.  What causes swollen lymph nodes? Viral and bacterial infections. Google search again... Can herpes cause them in the armpit?  Yes.  Various sources online state herpes can cause swollen lymph nodes in the armpit, groin, neck, pretty much anywhere you have a lymph node.  Not just the groin.

Let’s assume it’s still not herpes.  It has to be something else.  I’ve been sick and had all sorts of colds in my life, but I’ve never had a swollem armpit lymph node come about like that.  So what could it be? Has to be something, right?

5 days post exposure a big non herpes looking bump appears in my pubic area.  Its alone.  Doctor says its an ingrown hair.  I cannot recall ever getting an ingrown hair before in my
Pubic hair.  She doesn’t swab it.  Says it doesnt look like herpes.  Google search... majority of people who get infected with HSV will have mild outbreaks that don’t look like the typical watery blisters, but  be mistaken for something else... like ingrown hairs.  These are not my words.  A simple Google search will yield you the same results.

Now my nerves are going haywire days following exposure.  Healthy male.  Never had nerve problems in my entire life.  30 some odd years, no nerve problems at all!  Now suddenly a week after I get exposed for seconds to a herpes infected vagina, my nerves are burning all throughout my body.  Google searched it... leads me to forums of herpes sufferers.  Many share stories of their nerves burning.  Lower back pain.  Which I now have as well.  Some are diagnosed.  Some aren’t.  Leads me to “expert” on herpes... Terri Warren.

Here’s the kicker:  she acknowledges that herpes can cause nerve problems.  She’s seen it before in her vast years of experience.  But she says only when they have lesions.  If no lesions, then no nerve problems.  Interesting.  So even a herpes expert knows for certain that herpes... a NERVE VIRUS that hides in your NERVES... can cause burning nerves.  But if you don’t have the typical lesions, then it must be something else.  Sounds questionable to me.

My gential area and anus are constantly itching now.  Google search... oh look what we have here...  Herpes causes both.

I become severely constipated a week and a half after exposure.  Google?  Herpes has been proven to cause constipation by a study at Yale.  Awesome.

Unlike the rest of the misguided seeking help here, I know for certain that the woman I slept with has HSV2.  Swab confirmed.  Told me herself.  No mystery there.

So let’s assume you’re right auntiejessi and I’m not crazy, and the herpes blood tests are right, and I’m negative.  Then that means that my body just decided it was going to break down right after I had sex with someone with herpes and just hit a completly healthy man with several different chronic problems that somehow coincidentally can all be tied back to herpes with a simple Google search. What are the chances of that happening I wonder?  Probably slimmer than a penny.

Or maybe some other STD got in my body in those few seconds I was exposed.. some other STD that she didn’t know she had got through and into my body somehow and not the Hsv.  I’ve been tested for them all.  So if you’re right, then that implies that there must some unknown STD that is more contagious than herpes and the medical community knows absolutely nothing about, and that is infecting people and can’t be seen on any test, and it isn’t herpes but if you do a simple Google search for the symptoms of this mysterious unkown STD, it connects to herpes almost every time.

That’s if you’re right auntiejessi.

If I’m right, and it is herpes, then that validates all of the many stories of undiagnosed people who come to herpes forums begging for answers only to get turned away by people like you who assume they know everything about a virus that is so well understood and easily explained that THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY ITSELF decided we aren’t even going to include the test in regular STD panels because you know... it’s just so straightforward and easily detectable, and not at all faulty, that people will NEVER get misdiagnosed cause this test is so trustworthy and great.

But no, that’s probably not it.  I’m just a crazy person and you got it figured out.  The herpes blood tests are infallible.

I must have some unknown virus that no one knows about.  i’ll keep looking for the answer, jessi.  Thank you for your help.  I’ll keep you updated when I find out what it is.
You are not going to be the first person to test negative on STD tests to have an STD. Yes, you have SOMETHING going on. I am not denying your symptoms - I never would. I've been the "medical mystery" to doctors before, it's taken me literal years on 2 different occasions to get diagnosed with seemingly common things, and I GET IT. It's frustrating as hell, and it's scary.

Start looking up symptoms, not herpes. Get your prostate checked. See a neurologist. Do yourself a favor, take 3 months off of thinking as herpes as a cause, and see what else might be the problem. Don't give up in finding the issue by any means, just expand it. I'm not trying to just be mean, I want you to feel better. I want you find a cause.

If your herpes tests are negative, and your risk was so low, you deserve to look elsewhere for the answers. You deserve to look EVERYWHERE for it. Seriously, don't stop until you find it. Just don't limit yourself. That's all I'm saying.

Honestly, I’ve been through a lot of stressful situation in my life and never having any of these symptoms relating to stress or anxiety. I hope I’m wrong and my number never goes positive nor does yours and these symptoms just fade away. Have you spoken to your co worker about all this? You might want to have the, “Hey do you have herpes”? Conversation with her.

She claims she’s been tested but haven’t gone into specifics for what so yeah going to have that conversation again shortly.just got a prescription of doxy so going to try that to rule out any other bacteria that maybe the bactrim didn’t catch.

I'm in a similar boat as you. Some forums say test again after 6 months, I tested negative at 14 weeks but still have that sunburn nerve feeling. Have you had sex with your wife since then? Ive kind of been avoiding it till then
