False negative 12 days after primary exposure with IGM testing for hsv-1 and hsv-2?

I am worried that the IGM was not able to detect any infection--if any. If it was 12 days after vaginal sex with a girl. I know most guides say that is ideal 1-2 weeks after primary exposure. I know most people will say IGM testing is not reliable because it has a lot of false negatives and perhaps cannot distinguish between hsv-1 and hsv-2 and that you won't know if you recently acquired a herpes infection or is a recurrent outbreak. But I never found anything about its false negatives. I only had unprotected sex once and I never had any other sexual partners I also know I do not have hsv-1 or hsv-2 to begin with. I never had any lesions except the constant tingling in my urethra for about 3 weeks now.

Your tingling is not a symptom of hsv. Igm testing is absolutely useless. No one should EVER get an igm for herpes. Your odds of contracting hsv2 if she had hsv2 is roughly one in a thousand. So as you can see the odds are in your favor and the fact you've had no actual hsv symptoms, I think you can relax.

Thank you very much for that. I believe though the odds are not one in a thousand given she had bacterial vaginosis on the primary exposure. I believe this condition makes infection much higher. But, you're probably right about having no herpes. I'll probably just wait and observe.
