Fever

Kind of random question, but I've read that flu-like symptoms (including fever) accompany an outbreak. Could a fever without any other symptoms (ie lesions or blisters) be indicative of an infection? In other words, for a first time outbreak, can the symptoms include fever (without muscle aches) but not actual sores? Thanks.

Only a small proportion of people would suffer from a range of symptoms that did not include blisters or lesions upon infection with herpes. Blood testing 12-16 weeks after the exposure would assist the diagnosis, confirming a negative if this is the case.

Many, many things cause fever symptoms from viruses, bacteria etc. There is nothing really to suggest strongly away from this explanation.

And one follow up question: would a herpes-related fever break in the middle of the day and return a few days later? Or would that be something consistent with a person who has had seasonal allergies?
