Your HSV 2 is equivocal, which means it is neither positive nor negative, but VERY close to negative. How long since a possible exposure?
Terri
I would wait until 16 weeks have passed and have a western blot done.
Terri
I think I would advise you to redo the antibody test at 16 weeks, for greatest certainty. By now, you've had your appointment, I will be curious to hear how it went and what the recommendation was from your primary care provider. Equivocal tests are hard to sort out sometimes, and sometimes they stay that was for a very long time, which suggests that they are truly negative, not positive,
Terri
You are probably tired of me, Terri. But I screwed up again.
On last post, under "units index" it should read:
Negative 1.09
It's correct this time. Thanks
Dear Terri,
Please forgive me. I'm so nervous that I'm not copying things thoroughly. On the HSV2 test, here is what the first line says as opposed to what I sent you"
HSV 2 IgG, Type Spec Result= <0.91 Units Ref. Interval 0.00-0.90 Lab
index 1
Negative 1.09
I don't know if this makes any difference. I'll wait to hear from you. Please try to get to
me today 9/8 since I have an early morning appointment on 9/9 with primary. Thanks
Hi again, Terri -
I just noticed that the Note on HSV 2 test didn't go through on my e-mail to you. Here it is:
"Negative indicates no antibodies detected to HSV-2. Equivocal may suggest early infection. If clinically appropriate, retest at later date. Positive indicates antibodies detected to HJSV-2; coinfection with HSV-1 cannot be excluded without type specific testing."
Good Morning, Terri.
Thanks for responding. It has been 87 days which computes to 12 weeks. The exposure was on June 13, 2011. Please check my arithmetic to see if it is correct. I look forward to hearing from you. My appointment with my primary is on Fri., Sept. 9. Thanks.
