Genital HSV-1 Diagnosis. Difficulty Dealing With it.

So my boyfriend had a cold sore, and i'd never had one before. He gave me oral sex and i was then diagnosed with Genital HSV-1. I'm only 15, and because i am finding it really hard to deal with the fact that im going to have this forever, and feel like, well, no one is going to want me ever again, if we break up. He was really apologetic, and i didnt even know that you could get genital herpes from cold sores!!!

I just wanted to know how often i will shed, and ill i have to use condoms all the time. I dont with my current boyfriend because we've been together for about 6 months and i went on the pill, as well as both of us having STD screenings. Apart from him I've always used condoms so its just gutting cos i really tried to keep myself safe, and I've only had sex with one other person before him, and he has HSV-1 anyway so i know that i cant give it to him.

So yeah, i just wanted to know how often i will shed, and if it is less than HSV-2, and also if it decreases the longer I have it.

I just feel so disgusted with myself, and im actually beautiful and talented and it just makes me want to stop doing everything i enjoy. I have my GCSEs at the moment and im having big trouble revising for more that 5 hours a day cos i cant take my mind off it. Its making me feel really rubbish.

Any accurate advise would be really appriciated becuase everywhere I go on the internet seems to tell me different things

Thanks:)

With either oral or genital herpes, they should tell the partner. But discovering hsv1 genital from oral sex is recently  made known. The medical field did not know this was possible a few years back.

With your current boyfriend its not an issue as having hsv1 oral, hes basicly immume to contracting it genital. Its not 100% safe but all most 100%. As for future partners, it would be advised to inform them.

I read somewhere that after the first two years the shedding decreases even further. Is this true?

Hsv1 genital sheds about 3-5% of the time and after a first outbreak, your not likely to have another one. If a person is to have genital herpes, hsv1 is the one to have.
